BENITEZ: "They are wasting time with their banners and songs. They don't need to worry about me. I leave at end of the season. These Chelsea fans have an agenda. These Chelsea fans are damaging the image of the club."
Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez on the club's supporters: "They are wasting time with their banners and songs. They don't need to worry about me. I leave at end of the season" I don't think anyone can say they are surprised, I wouldn't want to stay in that job even if I was offered it in his position (not saying he was going to be...). Yes, Chelsea's form hasn't been great but they are on course for 4th... as far as I am concerned if he achieves that then hes done alright considering playing at Stamford Bridge must be like playing away at your fieriest rivals ground every two weeks.
Well done Benitez, you've just succeeded in pissing off every single Chelsea fan. That is a brilliant answer though!
Can you blame him though? It's not like they were all behind him beforehand any way. He's bang on right. The players do need the fans totally behind them. I just wish he'd have gone further, and also turned on the likes of Terry and Roman.
Hardly like he was their favourite person already was it? anyway, he only has to put up with it for another 3 months... I'm sure he can cope on his salary.
It'll be interesting who takes over now, because in all honestly I am now expecting to wake up tomorrow to the news that he's been sacked.
They should have come second with the money spent, and with a tough looking last few games plus two cups to worry about, they might odds against to finish top 4. How would I feel if I was a fan? Probably indifferent.
Don't see how Benitez can have any standing with the players now. They all know he'll be gone in about 12 weeks.
I can honestly see Chelsea dropping out of the CL places. Spurs and Arsenal will finish above Chelsea IMO.
Hope so. I'd like Kroenke to receive a wake-up call with Arsenal, but Man 1/Man 2/Spurs/Arsenal is my desired order of finish.
It would be nice if they did, partly because it would help to show what a great job Harry really did at Spurs (i.e. not one!). I like Dembele, but he's no Modric. And Sandro has been injured for a little while now, and Adebayor is nowhere near the level he was last season. And yet they could potentially finish two places higher than last season. Even now I'm still pretty amazed that Harry couldn't finish above that poor Arsenal team last season (as much as I rate Wenger).
