MIDDLESBROUGH are leading the race to sign Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi on loan.

A clutch of teams are interested in the 20-year-old, who will be farmed out for first-team football by manager Alan Pardew.

Pardew is willing to loan Ameobi out for the rest of the season.

And Middlesbrough, pushing for a Championship play-off place, have held discussions with Newcastle.

 

They can keep him for me. He's way off the calibre we have at present.

I think so. They are at the right end of the table so his confidence won't get hammered. He'd also toughen up a bit in the Championship like Jose did.

 

Couldnt hurt, not at the required standard, probably wont make the required standard.

 

Somebody at the game was saying he'd had a permanent move.

 

Will do him good. He has another 2 years on his contract, so we either need him to come good soon and compete for a place, or attract enough attention to generate a decent transfer value. He won't do either of those sitting in our reserves. My money would be on him moving on within a year.

 

Sammy is still too raw. Needs to learn how to play the game. And best, away from his brother!

 

Sammy will have to get used to this type of supporters dress down in the Boro....

PS: Another loan departure from SJP is reportedly imminent, with at least one Football League side said to be keen on securing the services of Nile Ranger. There may also be relocations in the offing for both Shane Ferguson and Dan Gosling in the near future.

 

Would be great to see Ranger piss off.

Good to see both of these lads go out to decent Championship sides and hopefully this will speed up their development and give us an idea of if they will make the grade for the first team. If not they get time in the shop window to hopefully increase in value.
