Consequently, with phrases like the above, that's why he doesn't get the jobs

Brian Horton gets as much credit IMO for our promotion to the PL as does Phil Brown.

The fact that PB cannot land a job at Hartlepool or Lincoln City(?) says it all.

How long before the BBC and SKY bin him ??

Maybe it's simply because there is no club out there that matches his ambition?

    I don't know Charles.

There is a lot of competition out there, with usually a figure of 100 applications or so being reported for each managerial vacancy.

Maybe he wants too much money, maybe his budget and assistants salaries makes potential employers baulk, maybe he's perceived as having been out of a job for too long or having failed in his last two jobs.

Most chairmen are pretty unscrupulous and would employ Jimmy Saville if he guaranteed them automatic promotion, Just look at how many clubs are happy to sign Marlon King even after his time in the Big House for smashing that lass's face.

So I'm sure pink jumpers, songs on the pitch or unwitnessed suicide rescue attempts count for **** all with them.

Why do we have a section of our own fans who hate our former managers, directors and players?

Have our monotonous years of European cup success and bulging trophy cabinet raised our standards artificially high?

I'm making presumptions here with regard to who you're referring but I'll give it a go:-

    1. Phil Brown - Possibly because some aren't blinded by one promotion to the PL, and half a season great performances & results once we got there, some of us can see past that ;)
1a. Nigel Pearson - Simply due to the ****ish way in which he departed!

    2. Paul Duffen - Surely you're not suggesting that the memory of this man should be held high esteem, surely not!?
2a. Adam Pearson - Beats me, how anyone can disrespect or dislike the bloke that was responsible for the beginning of our phoenix like rise completely beats me!

    3. Fraizer Campbell - I don't hate, or even dislike the lad, those that do I'm guessing is due to frustration at the fact that he's never re-signed for us.
3a. DJ Campbell - Oops, he never actually signed for us in the first place did he, but why **** with technicalities, let's just hate the ****er anyway!

    Are there anymore?

I don't hate Brownie, he gave me some fab memories. I do however cringe whenever he speaks or is quoted.

I despise AP though, he really isn't what people think he is.

I think the most hilarious but ridiculous quote by brownie for me was when he was on 5 live just after the euros i think and discussing foreign players and the pl and stating that hes in the know about the bundesliga and that the salaries there are considerably higher than the premier league.. then calling pirlo.. Homophobic.. for not wanting to come to the premier league or leave italy <laugh>

    He talks too much.
He thinks he is far, far better than he is.
    He is a **** man-manager
He must be bigger than all others in the club
    He knows coaching
    He does not understand tactics
    Fat Sam does
    No one trusts him
We won him a promotion to the PL on his CV
    He lost us the PL

    The man's a knob.

the guy had a lucky season and a half. He stepped in the limelight in front of the club itself and made a fool of himself. That's his own fault.
and I'm really not talking about the man city joke or singing on the pitch, those are minor details.
I think signings like Bullard, ghilas, altidore, Sonko(mcshane :D) say a lot about his footballing knowledge.
Things like the naughty step were pathetic man-management and I really think that the team carried him more than the other way round.
We ****ing struggled big time for a season and a half in the premiership. Loss after loss after loss at times. He really hadn't a clue and frankly we would have had a good chance of staying in the prem had we brought someone like bruce in far earlier than we ended up doing.
His ego took over. He made our club a joke at times.
Negredo?? owen?? need I say more
And last but not least, the fact that he was siding with the one man that nearly ruined our club is unforgivable in my book.

He's done ****e everywhere he's been anyways. We'd only won 1 game out of his last 15 and 5 in the entire last season under him.

The way I see it, is a very poor manager got very lucky to be at the right place at the right time... and to have Horton at his side.
Even the good performances in our first PL season for me were down to the excitement and momentum of the team. I think we could have been manager-less then and still won at the emirates and white hart lane.

I think the bloke's got bipolar.

He could completely ignore you one day and be chatty as you like the next.

I'm sure it depended on which way the wind was blowing.

    Mental.

Saying that when all's said and done he delivered some great times for our club and that should never be forgotten.

I'm fairly sure we would have had the same conclusion, but indeed, AP and his appointment of Dowie didnt help!

Im not saying it wouldve been different at all, but it's simply not true to say Brown relegated us.
