Going round on twitter at the moment from @Iwantcurlyhair2 is #foreverinourshadow in reference to Sunderland always being in our shadow.

There have been many as to why they are forever in our shadow, what reasons can you lot come up with?

Non footballing reason but it is hilarious that the Olympic torch is going to Newcastle, Durham and Middlesbrough but not Sunderland <laugh>

Most immediate one would be that we have just undergone serious asset-stripping and they have been on countless spending sprees, we are 12th, they are 14th. <ok>

Small team mentality who's sole goal is to witness any defeat against their rivals and celebrate like the World Cup truly is coming home (although it wouldn't go to their ****hole).

I was about to say well in fairness it really isn't a city comparable to Newcastle or Durham so it makes sense but then I saw you also said Middlesbrough. <laugh><laugh><laugh>

To be honest they're in our shadow for just about everything.

    The Stadium.

    The location of the Stadium.

    The Team.

    The Fans.

    The City itself!

What is there to like about it?

I definitely think its more to do with the place itself rather than the teams, these days we are fairly on par as far as squad and league table goes, but we have a far better city, which has had much more money pumped into it from various places.

Obviously the fact that we've been in the champions league in recent times and arent a yo-yo club helps, Sunderland have only really just managed to become an established premier league side.
