I assume we've spent a few quid on Aimson, as he was living in Dorset when we brought him in from Eastleigh and we'll have to sort him digs etc.

Though he might know the area already, his old man played almost 250 games for York.

We've actually got a match report up for this one...

Rosenior bags a rare goal as second half show blows Grimsby away

Second half goals from Liam Rosenior, Cameron Stewart, Johnny Margetts and Fran McCaffrey saw Hull City Reserves to a 4-1 victory over Grimsby Town at Blundell Park on Wednesday afternoon.

There were three changes to the starting line up that won 2-0 at Rotherham United two weeks earlier. Eldin Jakupovic took over in goal from Mark Oxley and Danny East, having returned from his loan period at Northampton Town, came into the centre of defence allowing Dougie Wilson to push forward into midfield in the absence of Ahmed Fathi. Trialist Ben Gordon was at left back, with Paul McElroy switching to the left wing and Danny Emerton dropping to the bench.

The Mariners had a great chance to open the scoring in the first minute when a cross from the right was headed on by Andi Thanoj but Rob Bryant blasted his shot straight at Eldin Jakupovic.
Ben Cuff was then left totally unmarked from a corner but his header was blocked by Jakupovic.

The Tigers' first chance fell to Stewart but his right foot strike was beaten out by Mariners keeper Greg Fleming at his near post.

Jakupovic then had to produce a good save at the base of his right hand post to keep out Dayle Southwell’s free kick before Tom Cairney and Gordon combined on the left to create a chance for Margetts but his shot was parried by Fleming. Stewart’s resulting corner evaded everyone in the box until Jack Griffin cleared off the line at the back post.

Cairney scuffed a right foot shot wide after a one-two with Margetts, who then saw a shot easily saved by Fleming. Wilson, McElroy and Gordon were all involved in a good move down the left which ended with Fleming saving Stewart’s left foot strike.

City were immediately on the attack after the break with Fleming saving from McElroy and then producing a superb save to tip over Margetts close range header from Rosenior’s cross.

The Grimsby keeper then tipped Stewart’s shot away for a corner but from Cairney’s flag kick Rosenior flicked the ball on and it was adjudged to have crossed the line before it was cleared to give City a 52nd minute lead.

Will Aimson had a header saved and James Armstrong lifted a shot over from close range before the Tigers doubled their lead in the 57th minute. Margetts sent Stewart clear to place a left foot shot low past Fleming.

The third came in the 63rd minute when Rosenior’s low cross found Cairney and his unselfish pass left Margetts with a simple tap in.

The Tigers were denied a clean sheet when they needlessly conceded possession deep in their own half and Southwell calmly placed his shot past Jakupovic in the 81st minute.

McCaffrey completed the scoring in the 86th minute when a great run from Cairney left him with a simple finish from close range.

Grimsby Town: Greg Fleming, Blaize Kerr, Josh Morral, Jack Griffin (Lee Wattam 79), Ellis Humble (Hamish Falconer 70), Ben Cuff, Lewis Smith, Andi Thanoj, Rob Bryant (Sam Loughran 70), Dayle Southwell, Will Peers.

Subs Not Used: Callum Robinson, Tom Charlesworth.

Hull City: Eldin Jakupovic, Liam Rosenior, Ben Gordon, James Armstrong, Danny East (Kealan Dillon 63), Will Aimson, Cameron Stewart, Dougie Wilson, Johnny Margetts (Fran McCaffrey 70), Tom Cairney, Paul McElroy (Danny Emerton 63).

    Sub Not Used: Lewis Clarkson.

Seriously, yeah I know he had an injury, but WTF happened to Cam? Viewing that clip reminded me of what an exciting talent he was/is!

For fooks sake can someone not sort out whatever the problem is?!

He used to just go past defenders and midfielders as if they weren't there! Get him to a ****ing hypnotist or something, ANYTHING, just sort it out FFS!!! A lad with that sort of obvious talent does not just lose it, never to return, overnight!

That video of Stewart is all from last season isnt it?

Good to see Cairney playing well, he really should be starting on Saturday IMO.
