I think the difference is that we owe 'no one' money. The ground is ours and our owners are seriously rich unlike Pompey's. As it happens i was reading somewhere that Saints are actually the club who have spent a lot on players (£30m)?. Agree with some that we have a few over paid muppets at QPR but we did get a lot of them on a free and our owners have said that if we go down, they will stay (owners that is) and we will be finacially safe. They have come out in all the media/press and said that but looking at the table, if you go down you could be in a worse place?

Having already broken the club’s transfer record to sign £7m Burnley forward Jay Rodriguez Southampton have once again spent big to win the race to sign Bologna attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez for a fee thought to be in the region of £11.8m.

Such a signing is something of a statement of intent from the recently promoted South Coast side who will hope that the money spent this summer will go some way to cementing the Saints position back in the top tier.

So that's just under £19M on 2 players

 

I'm not bothererd by 'Arry - he should not have taken the southampton job.
