His baggage (which he had brought on himself in the past) is now his own worst enemy. I have that feeling where I just don't trust the guy and wonder if he's really up for the challenge, or willing to help the cause. - This is because of his past and the things he's said. How do we know he won't leave us and say the exact same things? Skeptical me again. :)

But the main problem is that Ade has missed too many good chances, some of which have been sitters. He's had games where his ball control has been woeful and he's seemed very lazy. I'm struggling to find any positives at the moment.

Like you say, I think his confidence is shot to pieces.

But this time he can't moan and blame others, such as the manager or the club, like he has in the past. He's had enough game time (when he's not been injured or in another country) to prove his worth and compete for a starting place, but he's not produced the goods when given that opportunity.

I said at the start of the J.Tran window that I thought his days were numbered. I was surprised he didn't leave before Jan 31st, but I'm almost certain he'll be off to yet another club in the summer.

Hi Roo, his baggage at other clubs is only whats reported, unless someone has some concrete evidence who was there, its hype and bandwagon journalism, I don't doubt there was a molehill, but you know how easy it is to make a mountain out of it these days.

I don't want this to sound like I'm defending him because I think he's great, just trying to stay balanced from what I see with my own eyes, tbh, he's not the best forward we've ever had, but he'd do for now if he was on form.

He has had more than enough chance time wise I agree, but again its mis-timed with poor form.

He has 90mins on Sunday to be hero or zero!

    True. <ok>

but at the same time, there's got to be some truth in it. He's moved around a lot, and we've seen some strange decisions from him since he's been with us.

Will he go to the ACONS, wont he? will he? wont he? - that's just 1 example of messing the club about.

I'm sure there's others who'll be able to confirm some accurate information, past or present. <whistle>

Again I think his situation with the ACON is not straight forward. Its not like he's just a team member like say Benny is for Cameroon. Ade is to Togo what Beckham is everywhere else, he's their Captain and more than a team talisman but the country's talisman. His decision affected his teammates aswell as the country...a country he will live in doing his charity stuff, which I commend him for, long after his time at Spurs. If he so money orientated, why does he give so much away? That is why I personally disagree with the 'mercenary' tag. If he was swanning round the globe investing and spending his money for his own gain fair enough...I can't see any evidence of that, can you?

Nope, but the same thing can be said about Balotelli, who went into a library and tried to pay off everyone's library fines. He gave £1000 to a homeless person and walked about the streets handing £50 notes out to random shoppers. But Balotelli is hardly an angel is he? - I know that's a much smaller scale, but it doesn't mean that Adebayor is completely selfless and therefore doesn't have traits where it's all about him. (despite what he does for charity.)
How does one get a reputation like that? there isn't usually smoke without fire.

There can be in the wonderful world of sports "journalism" (and I use that term loosely). The burden of proof is so much lower, if required at all. The number of times the back pages are utterly and completely wrong etc. Just because there seems to be some "accepted" view does not make it true at all. A single story is often reported by other papers without any attempt to establish the credibility at all.

The first booking was a joke, firstly Dembele was fouled when Diame went through the back of him, right under Webb's nose and then got booked for a late challenge so early in the game when it wasn't reckless, he was going for the ball and the player wasn't hurt despite throwing himself in the air. For the Cole one it really wasn't a pull back he put his arm around him to put pressure on Cole, a tactic all defenders use and Cole's reaction of not even stumbling but somehow losing both feet made the most of it. If that was a foul so were all the little shoves in the back our players got when playing the ball, Holtby in particular. He didn't kick the ball away either. You could argue that he saw the lino put his flag up for the foul but you play to the whistle and he had little time to react to the whistle. Dembele would've been very harshly done by if he'd been sent off, it would've been worse than Kaboul's sending off against Stoke last season.

Roo - Balotelli himself said the majority of that stuff was made up, with a smile aswell, so I don't see that as the best comparison.

Like I said, I've tried to look into it as best I can, avoiding the redtops! for reasons why, though I do now realise Ade was fined by the club, who I don't think would act harshly, so who knows.

As for previous, I can understand why every single player has left Arsenal in the last 7yrs, he moved to win things nowt wrong in that is there! :D the fact that the Goons then call him mercenary was where it all started. His time at City was unfortunate in that one manager signed him and another didn't fancy him in his plans with the ability to sign the likes of Aguero. If thats the smoke, its hardly a bonfire causing that imo.

You don't have to convince me of anything mate, I wasn't in a meeting when it happened! :D All I'm saying it was a bit more than your description imo, and you've seen them given for less aswell as I have, it was risky but he/we got away with it. :)

Bitter Goons started this mercenary tag. I won't accept a gooners opinion on anything and don't intend to start now. :)

It was a great question from DL in the first place <doh>, he could have answered it himself by just seeing my first 3 posts on this page had no smiley.

Scott Parker can't understand the negative reaction that he got from West Ham fans on his return to Upton Park, pointing out the good years that he gave to the club.
    It's because they're ****s, Scott. ****s. Get it?

It's really quite embarrassing for them, especially on a night in memory of their greatest ever player. I wonder if they booed Bobby when he came back to West Ham in his Fulham days, it wouldn't surprise me.

FA are considering video evidence provided by Tottenham that Andy Carroll was overly-dramatic in winning Monday night's penalty.
