Morning, troops. Having been waving the old ‘no bet’ banner for a while but as I said on yesterday’s daily thread there is one running today that I really, really like. In fact one that reaks of a Pipe plot and I’ll repeat what I said yesterday afternoon: Military Precision (4.00 Wincanton) – gets in here on a perch of 97 and if he’s not a darned sight better than that figure then I’ll eat my jolly old hat! He showed a flicker of usefulness in his opening bumper back in January ’11 and on his hurdling bow for those old rogues, the Pipe’s, back in December was not beaten very far by some nice types (including Leviathan who beat him 3.75 lengths, off levels, and is now rated 115). This effort was followed by a pair of down the field efforts in above average novice hurdles. But my reading of the situation is that he only ran in these 2 races because it was necessary for him to do so in order to earn a handicap mark. I’m sure the jockey wasn’t hard on him in either races (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more) and Daddy Martin had a glint in his eye when he learnt how the old assessor had rated Military Precision. Set to run in his first handicap in this heat I’m sure we will see a different animal this afternoon and he looks the sort capable of running up a sequence. Good luck, all.
sorry for Ivan yesterday chaps, but watch out for Broctune on friday or monday, is dependent on ground but im assured (again) of a very good run to soft for Ivan yesterday even though it was gd to sft
It could be a good day for the Pipes, with sticks favourite running on the same card, and I think Home Run will take all the beating in that race, with the form franked by Tornado In Milan the t'other day. 100/30 is generous is it not? I also give him a squeek of getting a big price in with the second string in the 2.30, the horse with a stupid name travelled sweetly the other day before disappointing after turning in. He is a big sort who I thought could have done with the run, I can see improvement in him and if he travels well again, he can outrun his 20s price. Add in the Surrey National and he could be having a healthy profit day today.
Yep, the old rogues could do very well at Wincanton. I also notice on the same card Franklino runs off just 98! Not tipping him but he was one of the faves for the’Triumph Hurdle’ at one point and was a huge ‘talking horse’, I seem to remember, on the old BBC 606 site. 0/10 over hurdles suffice to say he has been very, very, very disappointing on the track thus far. Currently 14/1 and if he stays at these odds it would be first time that Franklino has ever started at a double figure price!
Damn you. I like him too. No money for him though. May have to be gizzit....I wonder how often a trainer wins both 4-1+ races on the same day.
I’m slightly worried that there has been no Pipe orchestrated plunge on Military Precision. Maybe today won’t be THE day afterall. Was expecting Daddy Martin to open both the magic fridge and the vault re this one today. His odds have amplified in the market since this morning in fact.
And all the whisper signals are aligning to -Redinga to get a place in the 2.40 at Lingfield. Lump on
A lot is made of the courage of jump jocks, and rightly so,but if Laura Mongan, just interviewed on ATR,is Ian Mongan's wife then that guy deserves a Victoria Cross.
