I've been a bit busy moving house lately and not able to keep up with motorsport news as much as I'd like, but I saw this yesterday, can't believe the 2007 F1 champion and legend of F1 is driving in a secondary Nascar series, what the hell is going on?

I didn't know this but it doesn't surprise me. Raikkonen was a lazy get. A partial schedule in camper vans sounds even less effort than part-time rallying.

Sources close to the IceMan have confirmed that he plans to compete in the Grand National next year as well. :)

Just seems like he's lost his way/the plot, or both!

Nascar Trucks are the route into the main NASCAR series. Piquet Jr & Mika Salo is in it too. They are all following the path of Montoya

Maybe now he's so rich he's happy to plod around an oval in his daily drive.

I maybe being a bit obtuse here, but is this racing TRUCKS? Real life, massive, noisy clumsy TRUCKS? If so, I may need to pay this sport a watch... :D

In my head I see them as mildly streamlined pick up trucks.

I think he's driving a Toyota Hilux pick up.

Oh, ok, but I would pay serious money to see Raikkonen in that thing!

I do enjoy and oval race from time to time, but I could never watch it regularly

You'd think being an ex-F1 champ he would parachute straight into the main series, still I guess he doesn't need the money after earning trillions at Mclaren and Ferrari. I miss Kimi in F1 he brought something a bit different to the grid.

I miss Kimi too, but I guess he won't return to F1 unless its with a team with championship potential? I'd love to see him replace Webber at Red Bull, although he is 31 now, so probably wouldn't manage too long a comeback. Shame. I guess the only real chance he had would have been replacing Kubica this year, that would have been interesting.

Well it is mid-season and he has no experiance and no reputation in America so I wouldnt of expected him straight in a top NASCAR. But I belive his backer Red Bull have a NASCAR team <ok>

If Montoya can do it I'm sure Kimi's more than able, and I think there's a lot of 'elderly' drivers in Nascar also, maybe Red Bull will chop one of their drivers from the main series.

This is a general comment and not aimed at you DHCanary:

I cannot believe people still think Raikkonen will ever get back into F1! - A fast driver yes, but sorely lacking in the ever-so-essential feedback department. He simply couldn't knuckle down to a bit of consistent hard work; he only wanted to play. I said at the time age has absolutely nothing to do with any decision concerning him and that he would never return. He was shown the door and no-one attempted to stand in his way; he walked through it. He may have hoped to leave it ajar but it was firmly closed behind him. There is no door available for him and no fire-escape to climb up to a side window.
    THE END.

    P.S.
Good luck to him playing with whatever toys are presented to him. He's having a lot of fun with his life and a very wealthy man to boot. Even if he was given the chance, why ever would he want to change that?

P.P.S. Please complete this sentence in words you think Kimi might use: " I don't give a **** "

No, I think the required response is: "I'm having an ice cream"

As an aside, something I only found out recently, on his F1 debut he was found curled up asleep half an hour before the race start. Does this guy get nervous?
