Having checked, Ronaldo was only really doing that from 22 years old and if memory serves me well he spent the following season playing as number 9 with Rooney on the wing. Bale at 23 is scoring at a better rate than Ronaldo was at 22 so really he's about a year/18 months behind Ronaldo in goalscoring rate. I don't think it really matters how you score them. How Bale plays until the end of the season with a lot of pressure on him and with a lot of big games will be the best way to gauge his level. At the moment he's one of the form players in the World but it takes more than incredible month or two to make you one of the best players in the World. Ronaldo's scored again. I think he's World Class you know
So you didn't claim that Spurs fans were saying that Bale is as good as Ronaldo, then utterly fail to back it up and backpedal furiously then, Piskie? That's funny, because it looks a lot like you did.
Anyway, this Real team would be an attractive option for any player to play in. If they come in for Gareth Bale this summer, I can't see the Spuds hanging onto him.
Another one for Real, they are completely destroying Barca and there is probably no other team who could do that at the moment
You claimed that Spurs fans had said that Bale is as good as Ronaldo. Not is as good now as Ronaldo was at the same age. Are you denying this?
Bale is scoring amazing goals, but how often can keep doing that? To score the amount of goals Messi and Ronaldo get and be placed alongside them, you also need to get those simple goals. Does Bale have the sort of movement and that greed to be a poacher? Can he develop that skill? Not sure.
Real are just more powerful and direct . Barca trying to walk it in every time . We saw against the chavs that against a well set up(parked bus) defence they are impotent.
Raphael Varane with that third goal. Going to be one of the best CB's in the world, that boy. We were linked with him, but Madrid got Zidane to assert his influence, and they got him. In a couple of years we can add to him the list of great players we could have signed.
Everton won 3-1 tonight, so our game against them in a couple of weeks is now postponed and gives us the weekend off before the return leg in Munich. We are going to need all the energy we can muster for that game
I think they're badly missing Villanova at the moment. Chelsea were very fortunate, Messi missed a penalty, Barca hit the woodwork a lot over the tie and they just didn't take their chances in general. It wasn't through a lack of chances that they lost, it was poor finishing.
Did anyone just hear ITV'S closing music for the FA Cup? What the f--k are they on? What a depressing theme, sounds like someone f--king died, whooooooo the f-------k came up with that idea?
I agree but that's not what we're talking about. He's got 15 in 23 league games so I think he can continue scoring them. I'm not suggesting that he's the finished article and will start scoring as much as Ronaldo and Messi are, or that he ever will. The comparison's between Ronaldo's progression and early performances in England are worth noting though, whether you think he'll get anywhere near Ronaldo's level or not.
Wont matter, Bayern at home will cruise through. Just means Spurs can open up the gap some more (although away at Liverpool so will be tough) and possibly put more pressure on the rearranged Everton game.
Anybody watching the Boro' v Chavs game ? It's a bit dull and Stewart Robson is co commentating I'm not reallly selling it am I ? Anyway HT now 0-0 link here if anybody can be bothered http://www.firstrow1.eu/watch/171671/1/watch-middlesbrough-vs-chelsea.html
