Nice try frank but a few points. Messi in the villa side would be nowhere near the messi at Barcelona, a side tailor made for him. Scoring goals for the top side isn't as easy as you make out, Torres can't score to save his life and he plays for the champions of Europe. Other players score for fun at lower levels but couldn't even connect with the ball in the premier league. Rvp is quite capable of making his own goals, its a bonus he finally has some quality around him.
Being honest there bluff. Remember early season when united were player poor football... rvp was banging goals in and taking us top. He would do the same at Liverpool but for all suarez' good play, and he's been very good let's be honest he's not been drag your side top kinda good has he. Robin has
So did Batman's sidekick use any of the other 10 Utd players on the pitch to 'drag' his side to the top? You have to take into account the quality of the players around him, Suarez's task at LFC is more difficult end of.
That's the whole point- we're not talking about the "lower levels" are we? All three players under discussion play in the same league, against the same defences- the only difference being the team they play for. You could therefore say that the one who plays for the weaker team is the better player if he makes an equally effective contribution with only "lesser" team-mates to help. This is a rather simplistic argument and not one I'd subscribe to, but it's much more logical than yours.
True he's got less to work with but its much harder to stand out above quality than dross. Swap roles and I feel rvp would shine at Liverpool, Suarez not so much. The nearest thing to proving my point is look at arsenal now.
Gtf UIR and stop the wumming. RVP was so good at his previous club he only managed to drag them to an Emirates Cup win.
But he hasn't been dragging your side anywhere. Man Utd have been the top English team since 2006and because of their attacking style of play and overall quality in the team the players they have will always score goals if they are played regularly. Lets look at from 2008 onwards: 2008-09 - Ronaldo 18 league goals (2nd overall) 2009-10 - Rooney 26 league goals (2nd overall) 2010-11 - Berbatov 20 league goals (joint 1st overall) 2011-12 - Rooney 27 league goals (2nd overall) Suarez on the other hand does not have the benefit of being in a team that always attacks and has the same amount of quality in attack as Man U 2008-09 - Gerrard 16 league goals (3rd overall) 2009-10 - Torres 18 league goals (joint 6th overall) 2010-11 - Kuyt 13 league goals (joint 6th overall) 2011-12 - Suarez 11 league goals (joint 14th overall) I think we can see from recent history that it is much harder to score as a striker for Liverpool, than it is to score as a striker for Man Utd Therefore Suarez just edges it for me.
While true he took a side who are not top 4 quality to a top 4 finish. He would do the same at Liverpool IMO. Suarez for all his good work isn't firing you up the table is he. Not a wum, well not directly just simple old fakht.
Being honest there bluff. Remember early season when united were player poor football... rvp was banging goals in and taking us top. He would do the same at Liverpool but for all suarez' good play, and he's been very good let's be honest he's not been drag your side top kinda good has he. So you're saying RVP's one more goal in the PL if scored for us would have got us up places in the league this year? How? I must have missed all those saves he made as united keeper & last ditch tackles he made as United defenders (all four positions at once) every game. Obviously he would do all that too if he was playing for Liverpool. You know, Reina, Agger, Etc would not have made those mistakes if it was RVP scoring that one more goal than Suarez. Lets put it another way. Your original argument (you've altered it slightly above) was basically that RVP this year for United would beat RVP in his year for Arsenal to best player simply as it coincided with a higher league position for the team he was in. Does not take into consideration his team mates contributions to that league position. Was I suggesting that he hasn't been a very important factor in where you are? No of course not but to say that one goal difference between our strikers represents the difference between 1st & 8th in the league is just silly. If Suarez had replicated his 17 goals playing for you with the same contributions & performances from the rest of your players we'd be talking about a 3 pt difference at most in what you have now. i.e. you'd still be top of the league. We'd still be 8th with RVP's tally with the same contributions/mistakes from the rest of our team. I mean we can do ifs & buts about RVP finishing more of the huge number of chances we created this year or Suarez having better players to play off in the united team but lets stick with the facts. 18 PL goals, 17 PL goals. Not much difference individually in their contributions.
His previous club have finished top 4 for the last 15 years so he helped keep them at the level they were at before he joined them minus the trophy wins.
Zenit aren't in the premier league last time I checked. Like I said though, rvp plays for a far better team and as an out and out striker, whilst taking penalties and free kicks on a regular occurance. Whereas, Suarez plays for a mid table team, not even remotely as an out and out striker, infact barely a striker for the most part. He never takes penalties, but does the odd free kick, not scoring many though. Despite all of this rvp has only 1 goal more than Suarez and will inevitably wrongly win the player of the season. Sadly, Suarez will be off in the summer though.
You are assuming they would have identical seasons Frank. They wouldn't. See at united rvp has to share the glory with everyone, yes he stands out above the rest but the chip in with goals meaning he doesnt need to be the hero every time. Suarez does. If rvp was at Liverpool he'd be expected to shoulder that responsibility and as I have stated, IMO he would do so better than Suarez has. See arsenal for the perfect example.
sometimes I give you credit, but this time your manc tinted specs have clearly skewed your vision mate. I'd put Bale ahead of RvP anyways. RvP goes missing for 70 mins a game sometimes and yeah he get a goal but that aint player of the year material mate sorry. Bale will probably get it, I think Michu has done better than RvP ffs, he's only arrived and playing for Swansea
are you suggesting free kicks and penalties are easy? Maybe there's a reason Suarez and many others don't take them...
