Academic, I reckon Zamora is out for a stretch, picked up a brand new injury, in addition to his hip, against Utd.
I'm with you 200% on Colin, Butt! Our performances going forward under Harry have disappointed me. Though I saw signs of an improvement 2nd half Saturday, our passing game is normally still piss poor. Generally we have defended a lot better than we did under Hughes, but this has come at the expense of creating chances.
Agree with all of that. For now there is only one thing to be done. Encourage and get behind the team. I said my piece as well about Harold at the time. Can you remember things you wrote in a previous incarnation? That's spooky. Expect a visit from Agents Scully and Mulder.
I think, even though I am not a particular fan of AJ, he is back next month and was looking good when he got injured. With Townsend and Hoilett and AJ we should have some pace at last, as long as it isn't too late.
It's gonna take him a while to get match fit after such a long lay off. Can't see him playing much part in our season tbh
I agree with those saying that Townsend and Hoilett must start against Saints. All other options have totally failed us up til now.
For me its very simple Adel Taarabt is the first name on the sheet as most teams fear him ... He can change a game and the only one who can in our squad. If he is playing or as was Saturday is choked we don't tick.. He is still the key and still one of the best ball carriers in this league. He will play a massive part
I know this was the subject of another thread, but I would be interested to hear your comments regarding Shearer's analysis of Adel. Do you agree? Personally, I tend to agree with you over Adel, but I thought that Shearer, despite being a complete moron, actually made some valid points about Adel and him needing to get himself into more dangerous positions, both in terms of shooting and crossing/passing. What you reckon, Saint?
Hey Oz! You're back! Me and SB was about to send out a search and rescue squad for you Good to have you back, what have you been up to?
You can sense he is under orders and for 11 games i would say if we in games that is ... go and play, create, try anything and no pressures of formation etc and see what he comes up with I fully expect him to play differently than against Man United you could see that they were told to try and hold for as long as they can ... i believe this will be the default with Harold and if we are chasing games then it changes it asap. I am concerned that our next matches the opposition will come at our throats and its risky ... If Adel gets one goal or builds upon a bit of magic then other teams will fear him big time and that's where you want to be going into matches. Man U put him in pocket and he faded very fast but only because they can play ... the other teams we face cannot play as well. I believe Shearer told the opportunity to do a win/win bit of journalism if Adel breaks out then Shearer will follow up with a bit saying that's what he meant and on the flip he can just continue to slag him if it doesn't work out ... Shearer should be looking at the tactics by Harold and crew IMO there is where most of the answers are
Been very happily lost in Thailand a while - recomended! You can see all the football you want there too, but then there's plenty other attractions!
That is obvious. Those who would drop him need to ask and answer one question. Who is going to provide the passes for Remy or anyone else running into the box or diagonally though the back four? As Hoilett has not done so at all this season why do they suppose he is going to do so now? Granero? Well that would be novel wouldn't it? In his case it is a crying waste of talent. As AT's goal against West Brom showed if someone is willing to make the run Granero can find them. The trouble is that he now won't do that. Townsend is a winger. He'll get to the byeline and cross it. There isn't anyone else who has the vision even to think of a defence splitting pass. So it may or may not come off. If it does twice in 90 minutes and we score it will have been worth it. I know. Perhaps it is believed that our defenders will suddenly start playing through balls along the ground rather than lumping it in the air. So who is going to do it? I'm not being sarcastic. it's a serious question. Before you rest your best creative player what is Plan B?
Forget AJ he is not in the 25 man squad. And before anyone asks, no we don't have a space with DJ out on loan. I still think that Taarabt is our most likely source for a goal. I'd play him behind Remy and encourage the team to get the ball to him quickly as we did against Fulham. As the Redknapp, the jury is still well and truly out, however a quickly look at the points we've won under him compared to those under Hughes (13 as opposed to 4) shows a vast improvement. Oh yeah, and every thing Yorkie said a couple of posts up....
Indeed, it will be a warning system, and points will accumulate similar to Our point tally this year, it will be incremental albeit very slow. stick to the rules and you will go far son
