The worse thing is some actually believe that we would be better off playing conference football than have Tan on board. They dont seem to fathom the fact that we wouldnt have a club left.

Have read one of the boards and they are going to set up a new club to try and rival Cardiff City ?????

As for the other boards have never signed up to them and never will as you said to much infighting and name calling

some football fans care more about the atmosphere and the social side of football than what division we're in, thats not meant in a negative way, just that some fans would rather be at ninian in division 3.

as for whether we'd have a club left, we'd just go into administration, someone would buy us and we'd be in league 1 at worst.

as for me, its strange, i'm not jubilant that we're top, and thats down to the rebranding. it may just be me but i also think that we've bought the league, though it must be said, most teams that finish top by a distance would have.

Watford - multi loans from abroad financed by owners
Leicester - spent big bucks across the board
Palace - have spent money and are well in funds from the Zaha sale/loan back
Hull - perhaps not spent as much as others but have their share of expensive players
Brighton - not shy with the cheque book either

All of the top 6 have put down money to get where the are so I don't accept we have bought the league. We have spent what we need and it compares with others. Campbell at £650k a bargain.

i'd say more in the way of wages BFB, smith, connelly, kim, campbell and bellamy would be on high wages.

so although 'bought the league' may be a bit OTT, with a squad of that calibre you'd expect top 3.

Agreed Swamp but most of the others in the top 6 are high payers - Leicester in particular to attract the calibre of player they have. Woods and Nugent won't have been cheap and Harry Kane is on Prem back up wages - possibly part funded by Spurs - and that's just the 3 strikers.

Don't know what Watford pay but it has been enough to attract a multitude of foreigners all bank rolled by the Italian owners.

if you look back over the recent past most teams going up have spent big, whether in fees or wages. If an analysis was done on the clubs cash input onto the team and their fianal league position there would be a strong correlation.

Don't forget that having high wage earners is not a guarantee of success, you also need them working as a team. This is exactly what MM has done, although we have some great individuals the sum of the team is very strong. Question is; what will he do next season, does he continue in the same theme or does he buy even better quality and break up the "team"?

KCB, stuck in the past, why not play in a chocolate brown and gold chequered shirt?

Or go back before 1959/60 season when the Bluebird was 1st used on the shirt.

Why not go back to the 80's with home crowds of 2,000 and away crowds of more just there for the agro.

Or the late '90s when Sam the sham wanted to call us Cardiff Dons?

Or maybe go back only a few years when HMRC were only hours away from shutting us forever and Sam in court trying to put us out of business?

Be careful what you wish for it might come true.

    +1

On the subject of buying the league, you can't expect to get into the richest league in the world on a shoe string.

Parachut payments and rich owners speculating on increasing the value through promotion. The championship is a very expensive place to get to the top of. Only Palace are really on a budget out of the top 6 and they've obviously got pretty steady finances to squeeze 15 mill out of Fergie for Zaha. In the same way you can't get to the top of the PL without HUGE investment, I would expect to see that trend increasing (at a relative level)in this division too.

very good post agree with you wholeheartedly.
I think it is now only a minority of idiots who disagree with what is happening, and most of them will be a sandwich short of a picnic anyway.

lads tbh in the 80`s-90`s there was fk all else 2 do bar have some fun with the plod.......its not as if most of todays fans were there 2 make it better was it>>>>>>.and however much i hate sam and what he did,the one thing he did do good was raise our profile and fans started coming back through the gates....and here we are today>>>>a family club with new kits new owners and a new ground, thats not 2 mention the up and coming premiership season <ok>

im happy 2 step aside for the new fan base 2 enjoy the glory years>>>>i will get my seat back when we come back down the division one day maybe <ok>......but for the sake of cardiff city football club,i hope i never will <ok>

    onwards and upwards
