There have been several surveys of city support for ashton vale. One of the most obvious points was fans wanted was an atmospheric stadium. The numbers in favour for enhanced acoustics enslosed designs bit of traditional end were the majority. In the EE that majority was massive, it was also very high in the atyeo. Dont think these surveys for av can be dismissed for ashton gate either. city fans in general have a clear view there. Build it right to get fans in one area in the first place!! Bristol boy is saying something very different. design and acoustics are not important. uses stoke as an example. This loudest Stoke fans thing came from a club staged event where stoke fans sang delilah before kick off. Been to stoke and I couldn't hear this amazing support good yes amazing best not even close.
Bristol boy when will designs be released so support in general can view them? Will there be any opportunity for the fans away from these fans organisations/ working teams to meet the architect/club informally to discuss the designs?
Yes-If you look on the OS at DL's Blog he talks about numerous consulations and meetings and I'm sure everyone will have their chance to input. What is already happening is a step forward and we should embrace the opportunity. If input is ignored then we can all get stuck into the club for not listening but let's not prejudge anything. Planning isn't until Aug/Sept and I'm sure all minutes will be posted on the OS and numerous, more accurate, pictures/images of the proposed designs will be aired on the Internet and at AG-One idea I have is for an open day/s so everyone can come and see presentations and meet with representatives from the Architects, Builders & Club, FP etc. Mind you, given the apathy displayed during some previous attempts and in Bristol Generally, Ill wait and see how many actually turn up!!
I haven't seen them and, as a guess, they won't be finalised until all the consultaion is substantially complete.Clearly, there are restriants surrounding Reg, Planning & Cost and all of these need proper consideration before final planning is applied for in Aug/Sept. Mind you, if Ross Crail comes on in FAvour of Vence LLP on AV these plans may never come to fruition.
Thanks Bristol Boy for the response I would have thought that Supply Chain issues would not affect a football club in the way that it impacts on a supermarket, which could be receiving deliveries throughout 24 hours every day of the week except those hours on Sunday when stores are closed. I'm still puzzled how a current, unsegregated, capacity of 21,500 will only increase by 4,500. As the New Wedlock will "wrap around to both Dolman and New Williams, the new capacity should not be less than the 6,000 plus seats that it currently has. In fact, as it will be the same height as the Dolman, I guesstimate it's new capacity at 7,500/8,000. and with a New Williams of probably 11,000 minimum, if my estimations are correct, the total new capacity may be very close to 30,000. That, in my opinion, is the minimum we should be aiming at, if we are ever to progress up the leagues rather than remaining a small player in the second tier or a big player in the third tier which is what we have been for most of the last thirty years. The only room for increase then, is the Atyeo end and having read that Liverpool Council may be compulsorily purchasing the house at the back of Anfield Road, that may be the route to follow in the future should our dreams of Premiership ever come true. But that will be another story and almost certainly not in my lifetime.
I have read Dave L's blog. He talks about a working group based around the fans parliament. I have sent e mails. Nobody has identified any opportunity for fans away from this working party to have input now. And around it goes.
That could be 20% of capacity mate. as you have had crack at getting in touch with the club over this. do you understand how this consultation works? seems a bit like visiting a car showroom with the windows blacked out while this fans parliament inside choose a car for us.
Iâve spent much of the last week finalising plans for the first meeting of the Ashton Gate Stadium redevelopment working party. Drawn up from members of the Fans Parliament, the group will be fully representative of a cross-section of City fans drawn from different stands and supporter groups. The group will meet tomorrow at Ashton Gate. The first item on the agenda will be a full briefing from the architect, detailing the work that has been done so far. Itâs important to emphasise that although some basic outline design has taken place, there is still a huge amount of detail to be filled in, and fans will be fully consulted at every stage. Following this meeting, the architects will go away and start to put some flesh on the bones, then report back to the working party. We anticipate that three or four such meetings will be necessary before we start to see something close to a final design. Thats Dave L's blog. redevelopment working party = fans parliament. Three or four meetings for this fans parliament but nobody else ven allowed to see initial drawings.
Liverpool have been talking about that for 20 years and you've seen the issue around AV, so don't hold your breath for that option.
Why not focus on the fact that it's made up of a cross section of fans?.I honestly can't see any point in replying to you because you've got a jaundiced view that nothing will change. My advice to you would be to get involved in pulling this particular wagon up the hill and if you don't want to, at least don't throw rocks on it.Join the FP or come along when the EE Members Representatives and fellow EE activists have their own separate meeting to discuss specific EE issues? The club have already agreed to that so there is even more consultation There is no point in wider consultation until there is a lot more meat on the bones and the Architects have gone away to design around the "wish list" Clearly, this has to be at reasonable cost and comply with all relevant legislation & FA/FL rulings. Finally, I haven't seen anything apart from the pie in the sky stuff like Underground Car Parking, on here or anywhere that the Architects /Club are not aware of after last night including the appt of an Accoustics Specialist in the Process.
Or going to a car showroom and not knowing what you want, how much you have to spend or what's available? If wider consulation takes place now, what will it be based on? Pictures with no design detail, costs, capacities, what we drew five years ago?AV's original plan, which doesn't apply to AG? To use your analogy wait until you can get in the showroom, see what's available at affordable cost and what it looks like, THEN you can make an informed decision on whether you like it and what changes/accessories/extras are rquired On another note, it would ne nice if fans actually spoke up in person and attended meetings-85 people for an AGM? How crap is that? 15,000 E Mails sent out for a survey-How many replies 2,500-Terrific-Not really
Thanks for the details. The height of the stand and its other design aspects will dictate its feel e.g sides. That for some will be its most important elements. A very early glimpse of the design minus all detail will give fans a rough idea of how it will feel. KK architects, what stadiums have they designed so far? I would be interested in having a look at their other builds. Their website appears to include no football stadia. 2,500 responses to a survey is more than adequate to have confidence in the evidence base , unless it is full of leading questions. The response number looks respectable.
I am a shareholder (£70 worth bought in 1982) but obviously would not just be able to pop out for an evening at the AGM. But as I am also on the Club's data base and I get regular emails about forthcoming matches, I have never received any survey by email. As for underground car parking, that was my suggestion. I agree a bit different to most ideas on here but maybe not so outside the box as one may think, especially if local residents really kick up about street parking.
Heard you have got to watch a video. Bit of detail in the form of an image regarding the roof structure? Acoustics are a theme.
On the topic of sustainability, I know a local concrete plant that uses local resources. Speak to me and get a good price Or do what most construction companies do, go for the cheapest price and blag the sustainability report that the cost outweighed the locality bollocks.
That survey is a damn sight bigger than this fans parliament. Stick some images up fans can give input on what they cant see. If the roof looks wrong fans will point it out. This EE meeting could be onside or off just on a picture. you are chucking EE ideas about on this parliament but not checking with those you think will be in there what they think.
Bit of detail wont hurt. This EE how high is the roof? That sort of sketch. Talk about flags and artwork could come later. The big one is its design and that will mean great, good or a bit **** like the many being built. This EE meeting could already dead in the water from what has been said on otib. Boxes in the EE right or wrong?
Assuming that those 15k include the 13k City Fans who normally attend it's only 19% who can be arsedto express an opinion. For me, it's very apathetic.
