Alan Shearer slates the R's in today's Sun. Whilst you can rubbish many of the figures quoted, I have to say some of his observations on our players and their 'efforts' are uncomfortably correct... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...eague-gamble-could-lead-to-cash-disaster.html
He's spot on. I read North's thread having a go at Shearer yesterday and I just had to turn off the Computer. It was to difficult to read guys that really ought to know better, round on someone who was doing nothing other than telling the truth. No doubt the same fools will jump on this thread and clammer for Shearers head instead of accepting the truth when its told them. We are totally in the shi*ter and Hughes, Fernandes and our so-called professional players must share the blame.
I don't see what more Fernandes could have done. All you want from a chairman is to back the manager surely.
Usually Shearer's punditry skills are as spot on as Mark Hughes transfer dealings but I must admit I agreed with his assessment of dear old Adel at the weekend. The problem I have with this article is he's just stating these figures as fact when in truth we do not know the truth, he's just repeating the numbers the papers have been reporting.
What worries me is the chance that Fernandes could become Chris Wright Mk 2. Remember Chrysalis Wright? A rich man, QPR fan and (in the time of Jack Walker at Blackburn) a sense that his wealth and backing would elevate the club into the position where it could challenge for silverware. What lay ahead was relegation and near ruin. We can only hope and pray that Fernandes won't up stumps and declare before his innings are over.
He's backing the wrong manager in 'arry as well. 'arry is far too defensive minded and tactically clueless.
I thought about inserting the caveat that Tony was the least of the three to blame and I should have. I feel sorry for him somewhat because, as you say, all he's done is back his Mangers' unfalteringly. His heart is no doubt in the right place. Unfortunately though, the more I think about it, the more I realise that most Club Chairmen wouldn't have sanctioned Hughes' disastrous transfer policies in the first place. The poor bloke couldn't have been any more naive if he tried. His lack of understanding of the game has been cruelly exposed this season. Do you think the Swansea, Norwich, Fulham etc Chairmen would have allowed Hughes do what he did? Not a chance. I like Tony and I hope he sticks around but the way he has gone about things since he took over has been the total opposite as to how they should have been done. That's the cold, hard truth of it I'm afraid.
One thing he didn't mention was Norwich and Swansea went up with younger squads and were able to buy as soon as they went up. Tango and Cash wouldn't give Warnock any money and by the time the club was sold we were way behind. Swansea snapped up Graham and Routledge (who was with us on loan) and we could only buy the dross that was left and by paying big wages. The Mitals could have paid the 100 million asked by tango and cash and sorted it out, this proved to me their not real fans. Our one bit of good fortune was Fernandes bought into the club. Warnock with his new players couldn't move us forward. Hughes was one of the few managers we could get and his record although not great was okay. I never did like the guy but no one could have seen how inept he was going to be. I am sure Shearer said at the time what a good manager we had got ourselves. This season we didn't buy great. Johnson was a sicknote waiting to happen, whilst getting rid of Helguson was plain stupid. Everyone know we needed a centre back. Green was the strangest signing as Hughes clearly didn't rate him after 2-3 games. I must admit Hoilett is something of a mystery I always rated him highly. So we are were we are. Samba and Remes are the last throw of the dice. I think we needed another striker and a good holding midfielder so I fear it may be all over, But hope I am wrong. Stay up or go down big changes are needed next season. This squad is no good for the championship or premiership.
We are up the ****ter We are up the ****ter la la la la la la We are up the ****ter We are up the ****ter la la la la la la Verse 2: Shearer you're a ****ter Shearer you're a ****ter la la la la la la Shearer you're a ****ter Shearer you're a ****ter la la la la la la
NL, if there was an award for understatements, that one would win it hands down! Seriously though, that's a good post and sums up the situation succinctly.
We didn't buy good could well be an understatement but not only is Hoilett is a mystery, I would add Park, Mbia and Granero to that. Park was always a good player at PSV and Man Utd I can only assume its down to age? Mbia and Granero came with good recommendations. I don't know what to make of either of them but its not good.
TF surely hasnt been putting all his own dosh into us?. Ok,hes no pauper, but hes not got the big bucks like the Mittals. TF could potentially lose some serious dosh if things dont go well. I think the extra millions that the prem teams will get, next season, seemed to be too much of a carrot dangled in front of him.
these players were highly regarded before they joined qpr so it has to be down to the manager who tells them how to play...hughes = useless. Harry =even worse.....no tactical ability in the modern game and is to much old school....football has moved on and its a shame harry has not moved with it....No plan A let alone plan B&C....
