I'd leave Holtby out, actually. Good option from the bench, but he's not quite up to speed yet and he's less effective on the left.
Bale's doing very well in his current role and I wouldn't want to change that.

  2. Verts looked by uncomfortable all evening which caused us some problems even late on.
Ade had a horror miss but again worked bloody hard all night and at the end was starting to look much more confident on the ball. Walker was good coming forward but again went to sleep with his marking. Worried that Holtby seems to be running out of steam, but he roams about looking more and more like VDV every game.

You gotta get closer than that if he's within 40yds. Walk in the park that finish, lol.

Credit to Howard Webb for playing advantage!
Gets a lot of stick from Spurs fans (rightly so), but he is very aware on when to play it!

I thought Ade and Holtby would work together, but Ade doesn't seem to work with anyone at all at the moment.

I think that it could work well, but Holtby's been pushed out onto the left to allow Bale to play more centrally. That doesn't suit him.

Bale is different class.Glad he's Welsh. Only one player I've seen put in consistent performances like that, and he plays in Spain now. Hope you guys keep hold of him.<ok>

  9. Not fair Roo - he worked his socks off all evening chasing down - tracked back and was as enthusiastic as anyone when we scored. God knows he should have scored, but he doesn't deserve slating for a lack of effort tonight.

So 2-1 down late on and win 3-2 with clinical quality.

Are you Man Utd in disguise? <laugh>

No Luke,we are Chelsea in disguise. We are scoring late goals as they did but we are not getting offsides, deflections and own goals as they did frequently. We are still making hard work of things.

    Villas-Boas time?
If we are Man Utd, then someone forgot to tell Webb! <laugh> Still no penalty for us in the league, either.

Can we stop giving all the credit to Bale lads, Jake's the real hero here. Can you imagine if we'd let him go on loan, we'd be wallowing in mid-table by now <yikes>

i think it's early days on that one. Vertonghen was not up to it tonight. I'm sure it was that knock he got in the first half, but he seemed like he couldn't run. - Holtby was always going to struggle tonight, with that being the case.

I reckon Sig, Bale and Holtby could produce a good left-central trio.

Sig deserves a start in the next game, whatever happens. some really good passing and dangerous crosses tonight, and a fantastic goal. LOL

Cheers Gaza. It will all depend how the rest of the season goes. Sunday as it always was is massive. We should be clear favourites but its a NLD and anything can happen.

Villas-Boas went with a side to try and deal with West Ham's height and aerial balls, so I can't see him picking the same team against the Goons.
I'd expect Assou-Ekotto to come back into the team and probably Caulker to drop to the bench, who looked very dangerous up front tonight, bizarrely.
Unexpected bonus to the team selection, I guess.

I saw adebayor make 2 runs from our defense to shut their keeper down, and 1 pass out wide to Vertonghen.
Other than that, it was basic passing.
I didn't see anything dynamic from him, he missed a sitter and i didn't see him have another shot.

I bet Joe Cole feels a right knob for taking his short off when he celebrated now.
Sam Allardyce does have a bit of a point but he can't deny we were worthy winners.
