According to official Spurs twitter: #THFC team tonight: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen, Parker, Dembele, Lennon, Bale, Holtby & Adebayor #COYS
Not a fan of Vertonghen at left-back and we've got nothing on the bench to change things up front. I've also got Dempsey down as a scorer. Time for Adebayor to put in a good performance or we might be in trouble.
I like Verts at L/B,it makes sense to put him there, could have been beaten in the air all the time by Carroll,he likes getting forward and can in that position
I think that our system leaves him exposed in that position, especially with Bale's increasingly free role. I'd have preferred either of our two other options there, but I assume he's been chosen because he's better aerially. I nearly forgot about bloody Webb. ****'s sake.
I would have thought that was the reason for playing Daws and Caulker rather than not playing Benny. If it is a tactical decision it is an interesting shout. Like PNP, after a great start there I grew less comfortable with Verts at LB, but he is a good player so have confidence that he will do a job tonight. Here's hoping anyway....
They have got a far stronger and forward looking bench so I hope we don't need to go looking for late goals.....
One thing I like about AVB is that he does things like this, no one expected him to play Vertonghen at left-back tonight. It shows he is thinking about his team selection, rather than putting the same XI out every week. It might not necessarily pay-off, but at least he has made a considered decision.
Lloris; Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Vertonghen; Dembele, Parker, Lennon, Bale, Holtby; Adebayor Friedel, Assou-Ekotto, Gallas, Naughton, Carroll, Livermore, Sigurdsson
Don't want to start off this "debate" again, but to all the Dembele bashers: "2.32 - Tottenham have taken 2.32 points per PL game with Dembélé in the side this season, compared to 0.57 without him. Catalyst."
