Past meetings Gillingham have not lost any of their last 10 meetings with Oxford United and their last defeat was a 6-0 defeat in the Littlewoods cup which was in 1986. This is results in our last 10 meetings with Oxford United: 07 Oct 1986 Gillingham v Oxford United D 1-1 Littlewoods Cup 11 Sep 1999 Oxford United v Gillingham W 1-2 League Division 2 04 Mar 2000 Gillingham v Oxford United W 1-0 League Division 2 21 Aug 2001 Oxford United v Gillingham W 1-2 Worthington Cup 23 Aug 2005 Gillingham v Oxford United W 1-0 Carling Cup 20 Nov 2010 Oxford United v Gillingham W 0-1 League Two 05 Feb 2011 Gillingham v Oxford United D 0-0 League Two 22 Oct 2011 Gillingham v Oxford United W 1-0 League Two 14 Apr 2012 Oxford United v Gillingham D 0-0 League Two 06 Oct 2012 Oxford United v Gillingham D 0-0 League Two We won our last home game against them but as you can see there are not many goals in the games against them. We have a very good record against Oxford which stands at 17 wins for the Gills, 13 draws but only 7 defeats. Current league table As of 24.02.13 Gillingham sit top on 65 points after 33 games with Port Vale in second 2 points behind after playing the same amount of games as the Gills. But Oxford are not doing as well as they sit 13th on 43 points after 33 games which is 9 points outside the play off places. HOADIEâS View on this match Every game has it's own aspect which makes it hard, you can say that we can win them all but on a bad day we can lose them all but I feel that we will win this as I am hoping we will put the bad home results behind us and make it 2 home wins in a row. With no defeats in the last 10 meetings I feel we can make that 11 but we will also win by more of a margin than 1 goal which will make it different compared to the last 10 meetings. The score line and scorers I think that we will change the record as over the last 27 years we have only won by a 1 goal margin but I think we will win this game by a goal margin of 2 goals and the score will be 3-1. Gillingham 3-1 Oxford United with Kedwell, McDonald and Weston getting the goals for the Gills and Constable getting one for the visitors.
I have a feeling that there will be a few changes but this team will depend on whether Fish is fine and the players I expect to be back and in the team are back from injury. Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Frampton Whelpdale Robinson Lee Burton McDonald Subs Forecast Davies Gregory Richardson Williams Weston Kedwell Birchall, Allen and Dack will miss out on the bench but that depends on if Kedwell, Allen and Frampton are back and also if Fish is fine.
I think this changes my team a bit with McDonald leaving, this will be the team that I expect to see now Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Frampton Whelpdale Robinson Lee Burton Birchall Subs Forecast Davies Gregory Richardson Williams Weston Kedwell I wonder when Williams and Richardson will play as we have signed them and they have just sat on the bench for 2 games, they have come here to play some first team football and get experience not to sit on the bench, I really want to see what Williams can do now even more with McDonald departing. I think Allen and Dack will miss out but that depends on whether Kedwell does make it back in time, if Fish is injured and also if Frampton is back.
I agree - the width and pace of Weston has helped to spread the play and be a nuisance as well as creating some forward situations - especially at Chesterfield on Saturday. I hope that Willams can offer something on the opposite side to Weston. In our last 3 away games at Bradford, York and Chesterfield the opposition deployed wing play on both sides of the pitch - and at times Gills were being stretched, and, to be honest, if these teams had a bit more class and or luck in front of goal the results could have been a lot different.
Yeah I know, it has been hard for the defence at times due to this. I think Weston will be on the bench because he did play 90 minutes Saturday and it sounded like he put in a real shift so he would have been tired so he will probably play from half time.
I have feeling that the team will be a bit different now Nelson Whelpdale Legge Barrett Martin Frampton Dack Robinson Lee Burton Birchall Subs Forecast Davies Gregory Richardson Williams Weston Antonio German I would like to see Williams and Richardson play because they won't get any time on the pitch if they don't play soon because I doubt we will continue the loan after a month and we might as well give them a go. I would personally play this team if Fish is injured Nelson Whelpdale Legge Barrett Martin Frampton Williams Robinson Lee Dack Birchall I think Dack could work upfront just behind Birchall because he has goals in him and I feel that he is a Lampard style player with a lot of attacking in him so if we play a style of 4-1-3-1-1 I think that would work.
I expect Burton and Birchall upfront and possibly Dack to start. This i feel is Birchall last chance to start so he must score.
Looks like Rotherham losing at home too. A point may be decent. Mind you easy to say as I have not paid to watch what's sounds like a poor game.
Old boy news - Jack Payne on for Peterborough at Bolton. Amazing stat - according to the BBC Sport website Peterborough have gone 153 games without a no score draw. 154 after tonight as they're losing 1-0
Another poor display at home, this is unbelieveable how bad we are at home. We have to keep winning away as we will struggle to stay in the top 3 with are home form.
Struggle to stay in the top 3? Really? Gillingham will win the league! Why? Because of the rare occasion we lose (ok, the defeats have been at home) others slip up too! It happens every time.
