Very valid points Arwr My first time was the Hamburg game in 1968 and I then was a regular for the next few seasons including the 3 years of almost making it to Div 1 from '69 to '71. Bit of deja vu in the last 3 seasons. I have to say I dipped in and out for many years but experienced enough of the doom and gloom years to know I never want to go back there. In fact we have all gone through enough from when Sam bolted through Pistol Pete leaving us at the mercy of HMRC and others until VT came along. No one knows what the future holds other than we will have to do something pretty stupid and dramatic not to finally get to the top division this year. Where would we be if VT had not arrived? Preparing the ground for poor old Pompey in Division 2 I guess - at best!!! If not worse. VT has put more money into the club than any of us can dream of and the only thing stopping him from moving this into shares is the intransigence of our old friend Sam. Why should VT put himself into a potentially worse position than Sam in terms of what the club owes him by moving his loans into shares before Langstone/Sam are paid off? Once the Lebanese oik has been "moved on" I believe we will see the true and full benefits of having VT as our backer. I think VT will have learned a lesson from the less than satisfactory rebranding experience of last summer and while other things may well change they will be done more sensitively and with regard to the history (good, bad and often ugly) and heritage of the club - which will always be there and cannot change.
Taff, It's the people who " will never set foot in there while they play in red " brigade that annoy me, if they want to walk away fair enough it's their choice but don't deride those of us who support Cardiff City through and through.
Yes they are extremely annoying but do not make ot clear whether or not they have been to a game since. If they have then they are hypocrites of the highest order.
Never looked like scoring Please put me/us out of my/our misery. I made a veiled guess at your identity yesterday as we have missed a senior and valued poster here for the last few weeks. Have you been a regular poster, from the Gloucester area, on here before under a variety of names but with recent references to the percussion section of an orchestra? If not I apologise and welcome as a genuine newbie.
Swamp, If its the board i read i understand your dilemma, There is an undercurrent of support for a previous owner and they look to bash the malaysians at every opportunity !!!! As for the Blue or Red debate i dont have 100 million to buy the club so cant really do anything other than go with the fact that the team i have supported for the last 40 yrs is still Cardiff City FC. The one thing im really grateful for is they got rid of the White shirt
No worries NLLS, worth a try as the poster I referred to has some health problems and we haven't sen him for a while. Clingo - if you're out there let us know all is okay. NLLS - look forward to hearing more from you.
You won't like the CCMB then. I don't post on there, precisely because of the so called 'fans' who argue amongst each other on nearly every thread.
Andy, I thought the very same thing Great pic DJ....sums it up nicely. Blue or Red, apart from the core 4-5000, most clearly didn't care about Cardiff City FC back then. Now it's a life or death issue All last Tuesday proved to me is that people love a freebie. If they were on offer at eg 50% off RRP, would we have seen so many? I doubt it very much.
I am am subscriber to CCMB but can't remember the last time I participated in a discussion as debate isn't a strong point on that board. Petty name calling and puerile comments abound. Here threads usually have much more meat to them.
I had a small flirt with M.Morris's board a few years ago and even tried this new Redbluebirds board for half a hour, never been a member at AA board, the Sam love in makes me cringe.
I'm a one board man! Always found the other forums hard to read with all the name calling and petty infighting. Never signed up and if they were the only option I don't think I'd bother with a forum at all.
^^^^^^^^^This from Stevo 100% - and the old Beeb 606 before it, is and was all I needed regarding internet football chat. Never been a member of any other Cardiff aligned message board. Having looked in at some through the various links posted on here, they make me cringe with their half-wit offerings. The tribal rhetoric on them is gut turning - always looking inwards and full of self congratulation. The adulation of forum creators and a former chairman by the posters are as much to do with the good future of the club as the present owners have to do with the bad past.
No problem at all. The missus will have a fit but you lot will hardly be at home for long. Certain Jacks might also be allowed..........and I might even hope for a win for Wales just to see the Germans being a bit down in the mouth but resolute. Never seen anything so funny as when Croatia beat them and the cars and bikes with Croatian flags driving round all night....and no-one touched them. However, if dull dai comes I might gang up with Taff and chuck him in the river Main.
The ccmb has become like the War of the Roses battleground. A colour change of shirt doesn't change the fact that it's Cardiff City, a change in motif doesn't change the fact that it's Cardiff City. A name change would change that fact, and that is something I would not like or support. Until then I am happy enough to let the man pump his money into the club, as would most other clubs that are in danger of losing their existence. And they can say what they like, but if it's the survival of the club verses non existence, then they would soon change their tiny minds.
I too am part of the one board club I like you guys too much! I feel that a lot of other boards are to political or full of idiots. Another positive is there are other boards on this site. One club sites are a bit stuffed...
I just like to point out I have never been a member of any other football forum, except of course the old 606. But I do trawl the other boards, other clubs as well as Cardiff ones.
