interesting.. what some of us have been saying for a while. better options out there.

"Reports have suggested Cardiff will demand £3m for the Liverpool-born defender after several Premier League clubs were alerted by his form in the last nine months."

    £3m.... no chance..

"Leicester's Jack Hobbs, who spent the last three months of the campaign on-loan with City, is understood to be Pearson's top priority, with interest also being shown in Liverpool rookie Daniel Ayala and 6ft 4ins Barnsley captain Jason Shackell, 27."

If we sign Hobbs & Ayala this summer i'll be over the moon. 2 young defenders with lots of potential.

I agree, Hobbs and Ayala would be excellent signings. I think cardiff are due for big change this summer so we might see dave jones out and gerrard staying

I've never seen Jason Shackell play but Barnsley don't have any money I'm guessing he's cheap, or free. Oh and Hobbs and Ayala would be great signings, i'd still play Chester and Ayala though...

Agree with you Hullborn, Gerrard seemd reluctant to commit to the Tigers, we dont want a repeat of the FC debacle. Prefer to see Hobbs/Ayala partnership..

Shackell would be a great signing, as well as being a solid defender he's got 'experience' (as per previous thread) and would be captain material - someone to replace Ash as a leader on the pitch.

If we're gonna be paying silly money i'd stay well clear. He's a good player but we shouldn't be paying over the odds for him and be held to ransom by a Championship rival. Luckily for us due to sensible management we'll avoid a Fraizer Campbell situation by not putting our eggs into one basket and having other irons in fire.

what worries me is the kind of players we're looking to buy. if our no.1 aim for next season is to be promoted, then that surely means we need to be signing potential premier league players. Ayala, Hobbs, maybe... Gerrard ? not for me, too slow. these 35 year old strikers.. ? any longer than a 1 year deal for those is stupid.

If they value Gerrard at £3m we value Oli at £3m. Straight swap?

    That'll never happen.

Cardiff are in financial trouble now. If Oli is to go there permanently we will have to pay him off. Hopefully, somebody like West Ham, Norwich, QPR, Birmingham etc will take Oilyvagina off us.

Right now we should concentrate on Danny Ayala.

For all the bluster about getting business done early, this transfer window is shaping up like all the previous ones; everyone playing brinkmanship to see who blinks first!!

I have a feeling it's going to be a long Summer!!

Hobbs and Ayala will do for me.
Back line of Rosie, Ayala, Hobbs, Chester, Dudgeon.

Need to get sorted early so they can hit the ground running at the start of the season.

    your not wrong Strovolos..

everyone thought that the bosman transfer of Danns would be done by now.. but he's waiting to see what the relegated teams from the PL are doing.. wolves for example might offer him a deal if they go down.. hopefully though NP will have a list of transfers to go for if his no.1 targets dont work out.

It's a shame that money rules these players heads to such an extent, Gerrard would play most games and have total respect with us, if he went to the Prem then he would be most likely found out at that level if he started many matches at all. Somebody posted on the Fail this morning about a possible attitude problem with Gerrard if things don't go his way, that might be harsh but he has a track record of that at Cardiff. The clubs policy of getting hungry young players is fantastic in my view, and I hope we get Ayala and Hobbs in as priorities, with Chester already at the club and the forgotten man Cooper we would have a very decent set of young defenders.

Chester is a very good CB, that's his best position and shouldn't be played in the middle, Two of Ayala, Hobbs & Shackell certainly boosts quality. Ayala is more mobile than Gerrard but he'll always be regarded in a positive light with us so good luck to him. The fact is without getting shot of Jimmy & Oli yet we aren't in a position to spend..

This is good news. I don't want Chester on the bench and I want Ayala to be our number one target. Get Hobbs for around 500-750k, get rid of Mcshane and get a new back up RB.

    Rosenior - Ayala - Chester - Dudgeon

Bench: Hobbs, Dawson, New RB, Cooper?.

I'm quite relieved, despite doing a good job for us overall, he didn't look like he was interested for the last few games and I really didn't like the idea of Hobbs and Gerrard as our central pairing next season. If our main centre back options next season are Ayala, Hobbs and Chester, then I think we'll be laughing.

We'll just have to be patient with the others, there's a couple of months to pre-season and any released player who's in demand is likely to use the time to see what he's offered and as has been mentioned, that won't start in earnest until all the relegated/promoted teams are sorted.
