Was curious to know how we'd been looking form wise over the last few games - below is the form table based on points gained over the last 6 PL matches 1. Man Utd 16 2. Arsenal 13 3. Tottenham 12 4. Man City 11 5. Newcastle 10 6. Reading 10 7. Fulham 8 8. Liverpool 8 9. Chelsea 8 10. Swansea 8 11. West Brom 7 12. Norwich 7 13. Sunderland 7 14. Southampton 6 15. Wigan 6 16. Everton 6 17. Aston Villa 5 18. Stoke 4 19. West Ham 4 20. QPR 4 So, it seems, outside the top five in the league, we're not doing too badly at all. A few of our future opponents (Stoke, Wigan) seem to down the bottom end of the table so hopefully that's going to work to our advantage
Agreed, but on the basis that we went over two years without winning after falling behind in the Premier League, only to do it twice in a month (Chelsea and Southampton), hopefully suggests something positive is happening.
Not just winning, but the way we've won. Pure class against Chelsea and a hard workmanlike team performance against Southampton who were a bit physical to say the least. Don't know how Lambert stayed on the pitch.
Still a lot to do and a lot if points to battle over, but I have to say the new boys have quickly settled in and made an immediate impact. Debuchy is improving in a Toon shirt snd offers more going forward than Simmo. Improvement. Le Gouf is fast, works hard and likes to get straight into the danger zone and cause problems. Improvement. Mbiwa looks classy. Hard to tell yet whether he's better than Colo or Saylor, but he adds much needed competition and keeps Willo out of the match day squad. Improvement. Haidara looks like he'll be great in a couple if years if he gets a run of games. Decent pace, strength, seems equally good st defending and bursting forward and won a few aerial battles too. May not be keeping Santon out yet, but far better than the on petition for that position has been. Certainly an improvement to the squad and one for the future. Sissoko is just immense. I cannot believe we got him so cheaply, even if his contract was ending in the summer. Absolute bargain. Improvement. Add to that the stability Saylor has brought to CB and the difference Cabaye has made to the midfield since returning and our form has been much improved. I don't want to get carried away, but if we can keep these performances going, then creeping into the top ten might be on.
Our squad is getting near the mythical 2-players each position deep. Except maybe CB(You know who I mean), and striker. Elliot's decent enough to be a backup for Krul, since there's no point getting a quality keeper who doesn't play.
