    Have a read through this.

West Yorkshire Police are stopping Hull City fans travelling to Huddersfield for some cock eyed reasons.

If they get their way - it will affect all football fans.

A 15 year old lad is taking WYP to court. His dads helping him, but he needs the support of all football supporters.

Whether you only remember Hull City for Phil Brown telling the players off at half time at Man City and want to take the piss about it that is fine.

But have a think about it. If WYP get their way other police forces will follow and you're travel to away games will be severly restricted.

Well firstly, contrary to the impression I got from your post, they're not stopping all fans from travelling at all, they've just limited the capacity. I assume they must have their reasons, however cock-eyed you might think them; what have they said exactly?

I don't see why this would have any bearing on the way future matches are policed, and frankly although I sympathise with this kid's frustration I can't see how this is a matter for the courts.

Fair play mate - you're right. At present they are not stopping all fans from travelling, my title was to grab your attention.

WYP have trumped up several reasons why the restrictions should apply, each of which is inconsistent and when discussed in a reasonable manner is dismissed.

    1) WYP had already switched the game to mid day k.o. to prevent trouble, but WITHOUT travel restrictions.

    2) Due to Sky want to televise it at 5.30pm, WYP then imposed 1500 tickets, for which people have to travel from Hull on official coaches, no matter where they live. So disregarding those who live overseas who want to attend, to those who live around UK they had to travel to Hull first. So consider the plight of a City fan living in Huddersfield !!

    3) The 5.30 ko was due to avoid alcohol fuelled Hull City fans attending and casuing trouble. The number of HCFC fans being arrested for alcohol offences at away grounds is errrr, well slightly less than 1. Yes precisely 0.

    4) WYP then advise the change in ko time increases the bill by £30k. When asked on BBC Humberside if Huddersfield paid the £30k would that change things, WYP ignored the question.

If WYP manage to restrict travel for spurious reasons such as this, it will be the start of a slippery slope for away travel.

And if my posts have alerted a few other clubs to the fact - good.

If one of those other fans has a contact that could help - even better.

    Cheers

Seems like an unfortunate set of circumstances, but perhaps your complaint should really be aimed at Sky and Huddersfield. Police budget cuts are in effect after all and they can't take any chances - imagine the fuss there would be if there was trouble (not that I'm suggesting Hull fans are any more likely to cause trouble than anyone else) and it wasn't policed properly?

I don't think this is the first time that the "coach bubble" has been used.

    You're right, it's not.

But a dangerous precedent is being set, or potentially re-inforced.

did we not have the same bubble policy with the game at Fratton Park last year? Clubs do make it hard for away fans, when I lived in London I had to buy my ticket at St marys or get my brother to buy it for me if I wanted to watch Saints in London- I was told by David Dein the ex Arsenal honcho that the away ticket allocation is the responsability of the away team, makes sense but you would think home teams Esp in London would keep afew tickets for away fans

It's not the 1'st time this tactic has been used, and it certainly won't be the last either.
