Good job you sacked Adkins when you were 3 points clear of relegation so you could push on and get... 3 points clear of relegation
It's a bit harsh to pick on Fox.., this style of football does not suit him. Not to mention the fact he hasn't played in how long!?? The freak own goal was just unlucky, the criticism these two are getting is unfounded., I think fox will be sold but he isn't as bad as some of you are making out.. Newcastle were just up for this game and very good in what they did,. Debuchy gave shaw/fox problems all match!
I have no idea why everyone automatically assumes that Forren will be better than anything we've got. Has anyone seen him play? And I'm not talking about Youtube clips, they count for nothing. Until we've seen him play a few games at least, for me, I'm not even going to go close to saying he's better than Yoshida, Fonte or Hooiveld, because I literally have no idea. Yes there must have been some reason behind the transfer, but the way people are putting him down as a dead cert to start at CB for the rest of the season is just crazy.
To be fair, I think the defence would have been stronger if Luke had been sent off rather than bringing on Fox. Not harsh at all- he was at fault for 2 goals.
You do realise who we've played since we sacked Adkins? And besides, what can we do about Reading, Wigan and Villa all winning games themselves? And why have I taken the bait??!!
its not harsh to pick on fox, didnt rate him in the championship dont rate him now never will rate him. shame that we have only a 17year old LB and thats it
2 weeks, same as everyone else? That's not an excuse. The Fox penalty was the end of the game today, for me. Fox was just not at the races again today, and is not a PL player. I thought we were going to go on and win the game till Fox came on and conceded that pen. After that the game was only going one way. Hooiveld wasn't good enough today either, hope to see Fonte back next game. But, on the plus side, very proud of a certain English striker today!!
I think on balance Newcastle probably deserved to win, but a draw was easily in our grasp. I'm not one to criticise referees but he did seem poor today. Odd decisions for both sides (apart from the penalty, can't really argue with that!), and looking back Cisse's goal was a bit of a joke despite the exceptional skill. Looking forward to the next game: Hooiveld's time in the starting XI is probably up given Fonte and Forren's apparent fitness. I think Lallana should keep his place after he started coming back to his best in the second half. Ramirez and Puncheon will probably be looking at Davis and Rodriguez to try and start.
Yes, and I am sure that you are aware it was not the fans decision. Anyway the same could be said for you guys sacking Hodgeson and then Daglish, I see you have progressed far...
Disagree. It isn't harsh to pick on him. Ball comes across the box and he hits it back across the goal!!! If it hadn't hit Jos it would probably have hit someone else in any colour of shirt. I don't blame him for the penalty, that is the shocking reality of modern day football that you have to try and balance whilst moving with your hands stuffed down your shorts. I didn't think Hooiveld had that bad a game really. A couple of times you could see him asking Boruc why he hadn't come. TBH I think we played pretty well until Davis and Shaw went off. Davis is starting to be an auto selection ahead of Ramirez. Still can't get over Newcastle's second though. How can a linesman miss an offside like that. He definetly doesn't suit this style of football though. 'Premier league' is what I mean there.
Shame. I thought we had a chance of getting something from today's game. First things first, Newcastle were very good, very combative display from them. They worked very very hard off the ball and were quick and incisive when they won the ball, always looking to get forward quickly even if through punts up field. I think they deserved to win today, however, but for a bit of luck or (bad luck) on our part, we could have sneaked at least a point. Not saying we deserved to on the balance of play, but it's conceivable that Cisse's wonder strike should have been given for offside and even so wasn't a foul in the first place. The Fox penalty, was a penalty I think but unlucky on Fox's part all the same. Nothing he could do about it. And finally the Hooiveld og, it was very poor but had a slice of bad luck too. We certainly didn't look as comfortable at the back today, Hooiveld looked nervous for large parts of the game and Fox's errors ultimately cost us a point. How have we picked up 4 yellows today and Newcastle 0? The Newcastle midfield were very clever and got away with a lot of little fouls that we were getting pulled up for. Also, Gaston annoyed me when he came on. He was trying to take on too many players and was always looking to go down whenever he got near the box. Anyway, fair play to Newcastle they played well for large periods of the game and deserved to win. I think they will continue to rise up the table until the end of the season now. For us, we need to move on to QPR quickly now. It's going to be a tense game for sure.
