I think Newcastle deserve to be ahead, and that finish was excellent, but so many reasons why it shouldn't be a goal! First of all it seemed like a foul on Clyne (maybe it was given because he picked up the ball, but it seemed a clear foul to me?), then a push on Shaw when he went for the header, and Cisse was offside! Comedy of errors. Gutierrez seems to be having one of those cunning performances where he manoeuvres into positions where Shaw has no option but to go into him, very very clever.
Foy is crap. Unless we get even calls I don't see how we get back. They will get many more chances that us unless Foy starts watching the game and stops dreaming.
I'm not usually one to complain about referees, I often think fans over react, but this ref has made some awful decisions. Their goal came from what should have been Clyne's free kick and he missed a blatant high boot on Rodriguez from Tiote. That free kick at the end of the first half must have been one of our first, and they haven't exactly been playing clean.
We talk about our pressing but this is really impressive stuff from newcastle saints are strugling to string two passes together, perhaps put punch on? Certainly need to improve if we are to get anything from this!

Well I think we are suffering from the way Newcastle play which is very direct and push up giving us no space to pass the ball. Exactly like we have been doing against other teams.
Cissé's goal was debatable, but Newcastle have been well on top and deserve to be ahead. Need a big improvement in the second half.
I think credit has to go to Newcastle. They have out pressed us, they have been stronger and quicker to play the ball forward at the first opportunity. They have also been very clever with the 50-50s. However everything does seem to be falling for them so far, I suppose you create your own luck but a lot of loose balls are falling their way. They do deserve to be leading though. We have players that can come on and make an impact. Will they try and shut up shop now? Can they keep up this high tempo for the next 45?
This! He's been the biggest 'homer' I've seen since Jeff Winter was about. Awful. Think a draw at HT was probably about fair, but their players (Tiote especially) seem to know they can go around the pitch kicking lumps out of us without any punishment, where on the other foot we can't do anything without a free-kick or even a card against us which makes it a massive uphill struggle. Agree with all that's been said about the goal. Not their free kick, Cisse offside 100%. Crap ref. I think we'll come back second half, especially now Coloccini is off. Might nick it but a draw is probably the most likely.
I agree we've been poor and they've been good but there's no debate about the goal...Even if all the foul decisions are debateable the offside is stone wall...Not even close to onside either.
thought we looked poor immediately after scoring, we haven't lacked effort just played badly, lallana has been offside too much and we have had pretty much no incisive passing. Bring on puncheon and ramirez for lallana and davis, Davis can't attack very well at the best of times and lallana has been poor. Newcastle have been excellent and I think we have struggled aerially, even when we win a header we have headed straight to a newcastle plauer, particularly hooiveld.
