Cold here...must be perishing oop North. No taking your shirt off, Tom...they are a bit prone to that in Geordie land...think the cold addles your brain.
Back when we got promoted, a Toon-supporting friend congratulated me with "glad to see it, they'll be the easiest six points we'll get all year." Should we win, I'll probably allow myself a good ten seconds of celebrating before spamming him with messages (have to do it at least a half-dozen times, just in case the first five get lost in transit somewhere).
So who would take a draw if offered now then? I'm trying to figure out if I would. This game is so difficult to call it could easily go either way. One point is a decent gain away from home, but nothing that will springboard us to safety. A draw would keep us ticking along and take the pressure off (slightly) the QPR game. A loss, wouldn't be disastrous, but would mean Wigan would have gained 3 points on us and put a lot more pressure on getting a win against QPR. A win, mmmm. That would be chipper. Whatever happens today, I just hope the team can play to the level that they have been and see where that gets us. Oh and a safe journey to those travelling up (or down). Cheer the team on and enjoy yourselves!
I'd definitely take a draw now, they're a much better side than their league position and they're at home. A draw would be a good result.
I'm not sure that I'd take a draw, not because I'm expecting us to win, but because we can go for the jugular here as a loss is hardly cataclysmic. Draw would certainly be a good result, and I'll gladly take one after the game, but now's the time for irrational exuberance, dammit.
HATEM BEN ARFA is definitely out of Newcastle’s vital Premier League clash this afternoon against Southampton. Manager Alan Pardew confirmed last night that the Frenchman, who had earmarked this game as his comeback, was still unavailable for selection.
I'm excited now, it should be an entertaining game. Maybe like the 3-3 in 2004, but this time with us scoring the last minute equaliser. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh
I think we can win, but would take a draw now just to keep ticking over and to maintain our present league position, especially with the QPR match to come.
Ahh yes. I rememeber that game well. Was a great atmosphere for that one. Leandre Griffit scoring what we thought was the winner, but in typical saints style it wasn't to be!
I'd certainly take a draw now. We're the away side, Newcastle - thanks largely to their January signings - are a better side than their league position suggests, and if we average one point per game from here on in then I am certain we will survive. A win would be fantastic, but for now I'm still thinking about avoiding the bottom three. So one point today, yes please.
Christ I'd forgotten how industrialised it is up north. Literally going past power station after power station at the moment.
Nice shot on twitter of group of Saints fans with flag standing under the Angel of the North...didn't realise it was quite so massive...dwarfing the people underneath it. (No, I can't copy and paste it).
