Chaps, I posted a thread like this a few years ago on the old 606, but I feel it is sadly once again pertinent. Goal difference. We are languishing with only a handful of games left and we might well escape, but stats alas don't lie. Hopefully our next group of games will reduce this deficit, but I am very fearful now, despite an improved performance today ( I thought ). To be fair, none of us here know what will happen, but for sure we are reaching the final straight, so unless a sprint finish is on the cards we could well fall. The next 2 games I think will surely seal our fate ; or provide hope, so I for one will be cheering us on, until mid march at least..
I like your optimism Surrey but to me, that was awful today. What is the point of your thread? Is it that we might survive/go down on goal difference or that it might become important over the next few weeks? I hate to say it but to me, we are gone well past that stage now. We will be short of the required number of points by a good margin and I can't see goal difference coming into it.
Sadly this. Even after reading other threads where posters hope for other sides results to go our way. It doesn't matter. We're quite franckly ****. We're simply incapable of beating anyone. We are the worse side in this league by far. In fact, ( and this is the real wake up call... ) we can't even score a goal!!!
Indeed finglas. My point was that we are more than likely down, and that goal difference merely backs up our ineptitude in front of goal!
Goal difference is an irrelevance now, goals scored tells the story of our season and why we are where we are...
