The Chairboys will be looking to bounce back from two successive defeats when the Shrimpers from Essex visit Adams Park and for the second home game in a row we take on a Wembley bound team abate the Shrimpers first ever visit to the football Mecca is in the paint pot after taking care of the Oâs in midweek. The only change to the line up expected is Deano for Jo Nomorethanfourallseason and Bruno returning to the bench from injury. As is traditional with teams doing well in cup comps the Shrimpers league form has suffered with them dropping down to just 5 points and places above us only picking up 7pts out of the last 24pts and having lost their last two. I will be at Adams Park for this one and will be expecting the Shrimpers to be going The Only Way Is (back to) Essex empty handed http://www.wycombe.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=309999
hoping for a win tomorrow, i think we really need it to kick strt any hope ofpromotion... hopefully southend will be suffering from a cup hangover and their poor league form will continue it will be interesting to see if Ainsworth keeps with the mccoy/harriman idea or if he throws matt spring into midfield. what he does upfront will also be interesting to see if he brings back morgan or if he keeps with kuffour/mcclure im going for a 2-1 win
We badly need a win here. 2 successive defeats without netting, followed by another defeat will signal a slide back down the league. We lost to a Wembley finalist who knocked out 3 Premier clubs on the way - no disgrace in that - and to the top form team in the league away from home by a single goal. We need to put those games behind us and show that it's not a loss of form, just unfortunate to come up against two good teams at the wrong time. A convincing win will put us back on track. And save me from total embarrassment in the League 2 Betting Comp. please log in to view this image
What's the point of playing Spring? None i can see. With McClure fit i'd prefer Morgan to partner him and not Kuffor and a scruffy will will do.
yep, but we are VERY short of options in centre mid with scowen suspended and bloomfield injured. to keep the same formation we either have to play spring next to lewis or play harriman there and put mccoy at right back, who apparently was diabolical on saturday. still though, i'd take that option
Painful. Can't deal with corners. Southend well on top at present; hit the bar and a goal line clearance. Could have been all over. We need to wake up and get some shots on target (8 shots, one on target)
Nearly another goal. I have a very bad feeling we are going to lose this one. Every time we go on the attack it lasts about 2 seconds.
Now I am fed up. ****ing 2-1 and we don't look like finding the net if we try all night. It's been coming. Wycombe on the slide. When is this going to stop?
it was terrible today, we couldnt take the chances when they came our way and there seemed to be a lack of options from the bench that would change the team for the better play-off hopes are now non-existant unless we get on a seriously good run. we desperatly need scowen back, the centre midfield really needs some more cover
I'm happy we will miss out on the play-offs as some fans i feel were getting carried away and had we gone up next season would have been as painful as last.Scowen will be back against Fleetwood next saturday and they had 2 men sent off today which can only help us.we're 9 points fron safety so we need a win asap to stop our slide down the table as other teams below us won today.
Out of interest, how many teams have been in rock bottom place in League 2 this season. Could be about 8 I reckon.
Just looked at the fixture list and it would seem we have plenty of "losable" games. Suddenly we don't look so safe from relegation. How many points are needed for safety?
personally i dont think relegation is a worry - we are 9 points cleaar and there are some truely dire teams in this league. however, to get the fact in these are the points that would have been needed to survive the last few seasons 11/12 - 45 points 10/11 - 48 points 09/10 - 45 points 08/09 - 38 points (but bottom placed luton had a 30 point deduction so this is really an anomalie) 07/08 - 43 points as we are currently on 42 points with 13 games to go, i really think relegation will not be an issue at all as for play-offs (for anyone still feeling optamistic!) 11/12 - 72 points 10/11 - 68 points 09/10 - 72 points 08/09 - 69 points 07/08 - 70 points so basically to get in the play-offs we need to win 10 of the last 13 games........... not a chance
Problem is, even the bottom team could achieve 48 points (16 points from 13 games). One good run like Wycombe/Bristol Rovers had and job done. At least 50 points therefore might be needed this year. That's at least 8 points, or 3 wins, from these remaining games February 2013 Torquay v Wycombe Tue 26 Feb March 2013 Wycombe v Fleetwood Sat 2 Mar Rochdale v Wycombe Sat 9 Mar Wycombe v Rotherham Tue 12 Mar Wycombe v Northampton Sat 16 Mar Bradford v Wycombe Tue 19 Mar Burton Albion v Wycombe Sat 23 Mar Wycombe v Accrington Fri 29 Mar April 2013 Morecambe v Wycombe Mon 1 Apr Oxford Utd v Wycombe Sat 6 Apr Wycombe v Aldershot Sat 13 Apr Barnet v Wycombe Sat 20 Apr Wycombe v Port Vale Sat 27 Apr It would be interesting to see views on where we are most likely to get the points needed.
i can see us beating torquey - thier recent record is dreadful and with scowen back and the team looking to prove a point this is certainly winnable i look at aldershot, rochdale and accrington at least as being winnable games. i think we will be fine and our aim should be to finish in the top half and hold onto our young players for next season (plus offload some of the dead wood)
