I think it's the spanking on the score sheet that hurts the most. There was a glimmer of chance we MAY be able to build up a bit of GD to compete with the others if we could find our scoring boots, I think that's been wiped off the options list unless we go **** or bust and try to spank teams 5-0.

I still think it will be play offs, and I still think it will be autos or nowt as I don't think we will be able to beat Palace/Leicester/Watford whoever we end up with over 3 games.

As always, and as the revered prophet The French Tickler once said, time will tell.

i think we are in the playoffs too , alway had us finishing 4th once we go to december, though id rather have to face Leicester than Watford - though there would be CP , Boro (please) or another in the way too.

I'd actually rather face Watford (maybe not on current form) but I think Leicester have the better squad and more quality. Woo, Knocky, Marshall, Nugent, all better than anything Watford have bar Vydra.

I think automatic is still on but it makes the Watford game a big one

I think it makes every game a big one, no more blips. We have a good team but there's just something not right on the pitch, can't put my finger on it but watching us play doesn't fill me with confidence that we can win every game. Sometimes we play great but equally as many times we don't turn up (but in fairness still manage to scrape results a few of those times) we're just too unpredictable. It's ourselves we need to worry about more than the opposition on the field, if that game is the last of our topsy turvy form and we can finally find some proper stability I've every confidence we can go up auto, but I doubt it will be and I'm sure there'll be more games to come this season where we beat ourselves by not playing to our standards and making big errors etc.

I agree with what you're saying BS man. We need a reaction against Brum but I'm sure today will be a kick up the arse for us to get going again and like you say we need to avoid making silly mistakes in games. I'm confident of the top 6 at least, whether it'll be the top 2 I'm not so sure.

I noticed a bloke on Facebook saying it didn't matter as we 'only' had Birmingham next week, and so a guaranteed three points. Some of our fans beggar belief.

If the players went in with that attitude we'd have a similar result to today. We need to put things right after today but Birmingham won't be pushovers by any means.

Number of occasions on which we've scored three or more goals* - FOUR, and not once since mid-November

Number of occasions on which we've conceded three or more goals* - SIX

    *In all competitions

Agree with BS man, something is making us inconsistent and it seems to be something under the surface. I don't think I've ever seen a team lose a game in the first 7 minutes of a match. Especially off the back of 3 good home wins. Even Conference North teams know that after going 1-0 down, you tighten up at the back to prevent yourself from collapse. Which is annoying because aside from the start we actually played alright in that second half. We just didn't concentrate from the beginning and it's cost us what should have been a point away from home. This is the big part of the season, the players need to stand up and be counted and we need to see a positive result against Birmingham.

Having supported the tigers for over 20 years days like yesterday no longer surprise me. Yes the results hurt but we never do things the easy way. That is why I don't get over excited at good results, nor too down when we **** up

Conceding one goal in the first few minutes happens. Just one of those things.

However, if we'd have had a vocal skipper on the pitch - finger pointing and threatening a slap or two at half time* - we wouldn't have conceded the other two.
We may well have still lost the game but not in the manner in which we did.

    That's what this team needs.

*you all know to which ex-skipper I'm referring.

Exactly!! I'm the same, don't overreact over one result. It just proves the fickleness of football fans. After beating Blackburn everyone was saying we are guaranteed automatic promotion and now after one result we've got no chance.

Well, almost 22 hours after our 8 minute meltdown I'm still wondering what went wrong and, more importantly, whether it will happen again before the end of the season.

Did our players think, as they were playing a side just 3 points above the relegation zone, that they simply had to turn up to collect the points? Surely not! But if not, what other explanation could there be for that first 8 minutes, surely a defence that hardly allowed Blackburn a kick just a few days earlier didn't turn to shoite all of a sudden!

By the way, this isn't an overreaction, I'm just looking for an answer to what happened, does anyone have one? Hopefully Steve Bruce does!
