Thought the crowd were really flat today, we didn't even give Ashley Young much stick, which really surprised me. Bosingwa is still a disgrace, complete lack of effort and his unwillingness to work hard meant he didn't close down enough for their second goal. Townsend - looked one of our brighter players, should never have been taken off - Mackie had done nothing - or Adel for that matter
Don't agree with your view on Bosingwa as I calked it weeks ago he would play when others said he was gone ... The boy is an excellent footballer and calling him a disgrace is way off the mark He will keep his place now certain of that He could still play in the best sides in the world no doubt IMO
That was the flattest i've ever heard the ground personally. We usually really get up for games Vs the top 3 and make the place hostile, but it was very very subdued. I agree re. Townsend, i was convinced he was coming on for Mackie, so it was a surprise to see the lively Townsend taken off.
I agree with all of the OP except that maybe calling Bosingwa a disgrace is slightly OTT. However, if he was the one who chickened out of the challenge that led to their second goal then he is a disgrace. I just couldn't make out who that player was but whoever he was, he's a wimp. Yes, I don't know why Harry took off Andy Townsend instead of Mackie. Very strange decision. And the crowd just weren't at it today. All I could hear on the TV was United fans repeatedly singing the same chant again and again and again and again...............
I thought Bosingwa did OK today. He got forward well, particularly in the first half (he was playing my side and I was close enough to judge him better) and I thought he looked classy. I agree that Townsend looked very dangerous, although he was quieter in the second half, which might have explained his substitution. The atmosphere was surprisingly flat but then we do need something to cheer to get us going and, whilst we played a decent game, there were no heroics to wind us up.
Just got in...Rubbish atmosphere but what is there to cheer about...? Utd fans loud and proud... Nightmare...
I think the reason why HR took Townsend rather than Mackie was because we were playing two up-front and he wanted to keep it that way. Don't necessarily agree with the decision, but think it's perhaps the most likely explanation.
Atmosphere was ok till their first goal, then it was the same as it's been for the last few games......resigned and flat. Bosingwa looked no different to any other game he's played for us. Did ok on the ball, but looked uninterested as usual. He did nothing that Onuoha couldn't have done and the latter had done nothing wrong to be dropped for Bosingwa. Harry got the substitution badly wrong, as Townsend was our best player by a mile.
Flat indeed - cos we know don't we? Writing's on the wall - and even with Remi and Samba up front second half, still not a hint of a goal coming to lift us. Like to see 'Arry stick with those two up front for the lower standard games in the next couple of months. We must have a solid goal threat then if only to restore a sense of pride. (These sides will be desperate and certainly won't be push overs.)
Hoilett for Mackie would have been a like for like swap. What he did was move Mackie to the right and Taarabt, who had his worst game of the season into the centre. We should have had Hoilett on one side and Townsend on the other with Remy and Taarabt in the centre.
I thought that myself Husky. I still don't agree with Redknapp though. We were effectively playing with one up front because Mackie just ain't cut out for it. A great lad to have on the bench to spring when we need a lift but he's not and never will be a footballer.
When Bosingwa went up field and lost the ball he didn't track back. Wasn't the worst out there today, that went to Tarbs. Why people keep thinking he's the best player in our team I will never know. 9/10 games he's poor.
This. Townsend was our stand out player. Harry got that one wrong for me. To be honest though, he could have done everything we said and played till 9 o'clock tonight and we still wouldn't have scored.
The sad thing is, we're going out with a whimper. No one expected us to be beat MU, but we could've given them a real good game. Utd barely broke sweat - there's no way, in my opinion, we've got enough guts to survive, let alone the fire-power.
