Different team,we have a chance playing like this.

SOD has made us a different proposition.

    Keep it going,we always believe.

Good performance all around today but our defensive frailties are clearly evident for all to see.

When you are 5-1 to the good surely you need to pack the midfield to negate their attacking options but instead we fell back and let them come at us in full force with almost dire consequences. We fold like a pack of cards under that kind of pressure and it's a problem that has haunted us for years.

Nonetheless a good win against one of our relegation rivals but only a win will at Blackpool will cement our possible chance of survival. Well done lads and now take the positivity on the road.

But still made tge mistakes the others did of winning so sticking everyone behind the ball at the end of the game so we couldnt get the ball out.

But its a vast difference and hopefully will now give mowt fans faith that we can stay up

SOD talks so much common sense every time I hear him.
He is bang on the target given him to win 10 out of 20 games.
Whether even that will be enough we'll have go see.
Can't fault him for his contribution so far though!

Mike the biggest problem was three quick changes blew all the organisation out of the window.
But hey Sod is doing a cracking job.
That was as good a team performance as anything we have seen all season.

First off we have to thank Heaton for 2 brilliant saves first half but SOD is a clever and astute bugger.
We have some right dross but SOD get's the very best from them.

It went tits up when the subs came on but SOD was trying out different 'types' of player - you can at 5-1.

I have to say that was the best all round CF display from Stead I've seen in a red shirt for years.

Two great saves as you say Redprintt..sometimes when that happens, it's like scoring a goal, lifts the team, which is what I think happened today...
    We keep fighting!

Great result, shame we couldn't have sustained cutting the goal difference deficit when we were 4 up (twice) but it's the 3 points that matter the most right now.

If we could get something at Blackpool then who knows....

He admitted as much in his after match interview; by trying to give three midfield players some game time, he weakened and broke up a midfield that was keeping Barnsley at bay. Will he make the same mistake again? Don't think so!

'What a difference a manager makes'
Blackpool have employed Ince. Might be wrong but they might yet fall into the relegation dogfight.
Let's hope they stay falling next Saturday.

'he weakened and broke up a midfield that was keeping Barnsley at bay' -
Certainly looked more fragile when 3 subs came on but we never looked that safe and had Heaton to thank for 2 brilliant saves 1st half.

    cardiff fan,

Well done, being so close across the bridge I would like to offer you my best wishes for the rest of the games and I think you deserve it based on some of your results. You won 4-2 at your place I think and we have no complaints on that day. Now you get a 5-3 win...

Apologies to johngalley for another statistic......but I got to wondering since SOD's reign namely 8 games 4 wins all at home and 4 loses all away,
we have played only Ipswich and Barnsley in the lower half- our other 6 games have been against top half teams.

if we were to replicate the form from the last 8 games in the next 8 games.... and similarly the last 8 games of the other teams in the bottom half, continued their form.. the league table would be thus after 41 or 42 games

    .................. current points..... last 8 games........total
    Burnley.........44.....................11....................55
    Millwall.........44......................7.....................51
    Charlton........43.....................10....................53
    Bolton...........42.....................10....................52
    Birmingham...42.....................13....................55
    Blackpool.......41.....................7.....................48
    Sheff Wed......40....................15.....................55
    Ipswich..........39....................9......................48
    Huddersfield...38.....................6.....................44
    barnsley.........37...................16....................53
    Wolves..........35.....................4.....................39
    Bristol City.....34....................12....................46
    peterboro.......33....................11...................44

haven't been able to work put games in hand in this scenario, but if we can continue the progress under SOD, we will escape just..........

Unless Wolves can pull out of this tail spin they are doomed not so sure about Barnsley it depends on their next game win that and they might be OK lose it and the confidence they got from that good run could evaporate then there are about 6 other teams like ourselves and the Posh scrapping to avoid the drop the next 3 fixtures will probably give a much better idea.

Redprintt, please listen to SO'D's post match interview; he practically admits that his changes lost us the last two goals. I don't think he'll make the same mistake again.

    Morning Cidered.

I did listen and yes I agree he did admit 'that his changes lost us the last two goals'.

I just felt we didn't look that comfortable earlier and had Heaton to thank for 2 great saves. That's all.

Quite agree RP about our defending. At times it looks like the "headless chicken" method with everyone scurrying around the box but not very sure on where to go and what to do.

Also I get very concerned at basic defensive "malpractice" such as allowing an opposition forward who receives the ball facing his own goal, to easily to turn the defender and get a shot away to score.

We need to find a way to replicate our home results away.

We have 12 games left and need 16-18 points from the 36 available with a reasonable GD to have a chance.

We have home games v Hudds, Brum, Bolton & Weds and away games v Wolves & Blackpool are massive.

Think Birmingham will go on a run and finish top 10 which sadly we wont be able to stop. I do think we can drag Blackpool down in to the **** on the weekend though :)
