He's apparently been offered a role at Swindon Town. For their sake, I hope it doesn't involve a cheque book, or player negotiations.
I hope for Swindons sake it's only serving beer at half time, Still, If it is a boardroom job I can't wait to see their global foot print rise.
He could certainly teach the Alams a bit about PR. Whitelygate, the Huddersfield fiasco and now the Bolton ticktets drama Deafening silence from our club about these when good strong proactive media was essential. No way would Duffen have just let us get the runaround like we have had this last week or so.
What the hell do you think the Allam's could do about Huddersfield? Personally, I can live without the bullshit and I'd rather have an owner who can afford the money he's spending(someone who puts money in, rather than emptying the till). Apart from presiding over some of the worst deals in football history, this is the bloke who scrapped Hull City's loyalty scheme, so fans who'd been going home and away for years missed out on Old Trafford and Anfield, while those games became the first ever away game for some.
It hasn't really been as issue since we were relegated, AP planned to reinstate it, but I don't know what the current plans are.
That last point was Duffen's biggest act of betrayal. As you said, people who had gone for years missed out on trips to Old Trafford, Anfield and the like, their places taken by corporates and people who couldn't name the team accompanied by kids who were more interested on playing on their Nintendo and other handhelds.
Presumably something to do with all the loyalty points we're building up on our season cards when we buy merchandise and stuff from the shop. It would be interesting to see the weighting match tickets (eg Cup games rather than away games) get, might give us some idea of the profit margin the club has on merchandise. And before someone says it, I know the shirts cost bugger all to make and sell for a fortune, but we don't know how much of that profit is kept by the club and how much of it is swallowed up by what adidas charge us for stock in the first place.
