To be fair we cannot really comment on whether not any of the drivers are truly 'good guys', the way a driver conducts himself in front of the media and in the pubic eye can often be very different to what they are really like behind closed doors both on and off the track.

I know, I'm 66 years old, and have been both a good and a bad boy as required.

I've been a life-long (ok, slight exageration...but a good 15 years or so now!) fan of McLaren, and admittedly thought they had made a stupid decision when setting Hamilton on - my mind was quickly changed with his pure awesome racing talent...but since he left McLaren I now find myself hoping to see him off the track more then on! ...So McLaren for me still :-D

Welcome aboard! Surprised to see us gaining so many new faces during pre-season, I suppose the desperation of F1 fans for more news, etc has to push them somewhere! Still, it's nice to have a growing board.

Indeed, I'm surprised I lasted this long TBH! Thanks to both of you for the warm welcome too - think I may have to bookmark this forum at work, I fear I won't have sufficient time at home to pop in often enough to get my 'fix' haha!

Mclaren have some quality engineers like Lowe and Oatley and the team always seem to deliver a race wining car whether with Newey and the West sponsor era and even when Pat Fry was there before going to Ferrari. I cant really speak about the Prost/Senna era as i was to young to really appreciate what was going on. But for me the arrival of Hertfordshire boy in 2007 was just to use his words phenomenal for a rookie to finish above the man that ended the Schumi dictatorship and being the reigning 2xwdc at the time when he came to Mcca as the clear No1 and by Indianapolis 07 Ron was asking for the rookie and the double wdc to race on equal terms due to what Lauda has described as the greatest rookie ever.

Unfortunately for Alonso he had no idea what Ron had created at Mclaren TBH i dont even think Mclaren realised what raw talent was waiting to be unleashed on the F1 world and breaking records while in his debutant year.

For me I will go with Lewis over Mclaren as he is still raw, talented and according to the Austrian 3xwdc is the best driver in F1 and according to Brundall when he is at his best he is the best which i agree with.

Exactly, Ron Dennis had no real idea of the impact Lewis Hamilton would make on the world of F1, his first year was phenomenal and unprecedented , poor old Alonso must have thought he'd been fitted up, no-one could have foreseen the carnage Lewis created with his unique talent, who the effing hell is driving that McLaren, Lewis who, brilliant, I loved every minute of it "and and" he very nearly won the WDC and he really pissed off Raikkonen, going round the outside the cheeky little B***ard, pure F****ng MAGIC.

So for me ultimately, it's the man not the team !!!

That's a smoking quick time... Time to get Alonso on in the dry and then the debate on who's the fastest in equal machinery will be settled?

Lewis Hamilton reminds me of a young Stirling Moss and Seb as Fangio. Stirling would brag he could beat Fangio in any other machine accept F1 ;)
