In an unprecedented fit of Canary-cuddling that I can only attribute to an Invasion of the Bodysnatchers experience, the mighty Lawro has tipped us to both mallet the Toffees 2-0 AND beat the drop this year.

    We're doomed I tells ya.

(apologies for no linky but I'm using my phone and am a Luddite, but its in the usual BBC place)

Oh, well. Maybe the others will lose as well, or has he predicted them to do so!

According to Lawro's predictions we should be level on points with QPR so yeah, you're pretty much screwed if he's predicting you to win :D

They should've got Hulk Hogan to do it again, he battered Lawro last time even though he predicted Chelsea to win 40-1 :emoticon-0165-muscl

he keeps predicting us to win (like vs fulham) as eventually we will win and he'll get one right.
the same thing happened with Koo Pee Arrg in the last few months.

He's had us to win quite a few times lately, he's blatantly doing it and manipulating his predictions to make his virtual table look a bit more realistic so he's no doubt rooting for us to actually lose to narrow the gap between his predicted wins and our actual victories.

I was thinking that too. His table looks so bad that he's got to do something to sort it out!

I doubt if Lawro, being a die-hard Liverpool fan would actually root for an Everton victory, but he's getting desperate now so who knows ?

It's quite funny how universally ridiculed his 'predictions' are. The upcoming game against Newcastle is the 9th game in a row that he has predicted saints to lose despite doing quite well of late. The Newcastle forumites however, have consigned themselves to defeat as they fear the curse of the Lawro. He just doesn't seem to take current form into account which is surely a fairly fundamental part of making a prediction. The most laughable part is that he has, over the course of the season, predicted 13 wins for QPR.

The worrying thing, Supertramp, is that he always predicts Norwich to lose or draw. Regardless of the opposition, our or their recent form etc. So a positive prediction is reverse psychology, the kiss of death, call it what you want.

I think most of us feel more in our 'comfort zone' when he predicts us to lose! <laugh>

In fairness to the guy, the reason we all love football so much is because of how unpredictable it is. I heard someone saying on the radio about a week ago that if one team batters another in rugby they invariably win 40-3. If one team batters another in football they invariably lose 1-0! It must be very hard to consistently predict correctly...

Not that Lawro is even inconsistently predicting correctly, mind you...

His main considerations seem to be reputation - in general, and in terms of transfers - and media talk.

Yeah I've noticed your right down the table on his predictions! Clearly not a Canary fan! He tends to hedge his bets a lot and tends to keep things to 1 or 2 goals either way and unless your one of the big 4 or 5 normally goes down for a narrow home win. That's probably a smart way of making predictions, but alongside that he seems to have a unreasonable negative outlook on some of the smaller or less fashionable clubs. If QPR weren't a London club, with loadsa players on big money, I wonder if he would so consistently predict favorable outcomes for them.

Yeah, I appreciate that football is unpredictable and that making correct predictions is far from easy (I'm pretty bad at it myself!). It's just the seemingly irrational like or dislike for certain teams that I have a problem with, and that his predictions often seemingly don't consider form of either side. That doesn't mean your going to be right with your predictions, but it makes them a bit more creditable, I think.

If anyone's interested, I've calculated Lawro's score and added him to the CPL. I've started him off in Division One and he's done surprisingly well...
