I'd never seen Prozzie play, the whole bet thing was just a piss take over the daft claims by being made by both sets of fans, it wasn't serious.
I know you'd not seen him play but you both assumed that because Bruce had been tracking him for about a year and because he cost £2.6m that he was going to be **** hot. I can see the logic behind this, but it didn't work out like that - like we said it wouldn't. Gedo could be a different story though. EDIT: Good to see you've toned now the bull lately. Keep it up.
I knew **** all about him, my backing of him came from nothing more than not wanting to see a new City signing slagged off before he'd even played. I didn't even rate Bruce at the time, so his endorsement didn't really impress me at the time either. Still, Bruce has won me over and I now don't give a **** about what Prossie does, the rest of his signings have been really impressive.
Where was the cockiness? Just wondered if you'd reconsidered and decided you may have been a hasty in discounting Gedo's abilities as a footballer. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a little stupid to say a team has no good strikers when you'd never seen one of them?
I remember you, with some other Leicester fans, saying that you wanted to keep Fryatt, rather than keep him! Also, just for the record, he scored 16 goals last season, all on his own!
I presume Proud's silence on the matter means he can now see that saying a team have no good strikers when you've never seen one of their strikers is undeniably moronic.
The implication behind Proud's words were that you have no "proven" strikers, ie players that have cut it at this level before. Even some of your own were unhappy about this. Signings from a country with low standards or from a lower league in an established country are always a gamble. Prozzie didn't work. Gedo might. Even if he turns out to outstanding though, it's far too early to be claiming all your problems are over, just like signing Wood and having the best defence in the league still wasn't enough to stop us going on a bad run.
“The difference between us and you is we have actually got decent strikers. You dont have any” There is no implication there that Gedo is unproven and might be a real gem, which is exactly what he's looking like right now. Just face it, Proud is an idiot, it's clear for all to see. Not just the fact that he has the basic English skills possessed by a well-trained pet but also the fact that when you do manage to decipher the letters he's vomited into his posts, it's nearly always utter drivel.
"You don't have any" is obviously not meant to be taken literally. There isn't a football club in the world that doesn't have any strikers! Therefore the implication is that you don't have decent strikers. You can only assess a players as "decent" from past performances and Gedo had none at this level in this country to assess, therefore he dismissed him. Totally logical. As it turns out, you might have defied the odds and got lucky. Too early to assess though still, quite frankly.
You're as bad as him. The point that we don't have any decent strikers isn't implied, it's stated. The "You dont have any" is a direct reference to decent strikers, not just strikers, so I was never claiming he said we don't have any strikers. You think it's totally logical to immediately dismiss someone on the basis that you know nothing about them and because they're from a different country? If so, that's ridiculous. Presumably, using you and Proud's 'immaculate' logic, if we signed Neymar, we'd still have no decent strikers. If you think it's as simple as us getting lucky then again you're showing a basic lack of understanding of how scouting, signings, etc work. Did Fergie just 'get lucky' with Ronaldo, did Villa just 'get lucky' with Benteke, etc. You're displaying a very simplistic view of things. Extensive scouting and research goes into signing a player, teams don't just pick players names out a hat, although if they did, Bruce would be a very fortunate man with his choices ...
