So west yorkshire police are stopping us freely going to the game?

All we need is 200 supports to pledging to watch the game in Huddersfield City centre pubs and we will soon get our civil liberty's back

Just been interviewed by Look North as a Wesie based supporter. You may see my ugly mug on the news at 1.30 and 6.30. BBC also feel its way over the top.

Never thought I'd ever agree with a Millwall fan but you've just hit the nail on the head. Now, can we have our seats back?

I fully support the kid, though it's a bit strange that he can afford a solicitor but not the extra travel costs. Still, that isn't the point I suppose.

The biggest issue I have with this whole situation is the police dictating what prices Huddersfield can and cannot charge. Surely there is an issue with that that can be challenged with the Football League, FA, UEFA or FIFA?

Also, we all know full well what is going to happen if this does end up being challenged in a court - the judge will rule that whilst this game doesn't present any significant risks and the travel arrangements are unfair (for 'unfair', see 'illegal'), it'll set a precedent that will mean slack policing at more 'dangerous' games such as Swansea-Cardiff, and so he'll allow them to stand

I think the police are probably more worried about the Huddersfield lot than us given their recent record of acting like bellends but if that was the case why restrict us to 1500 tickets? Not enough parking space for the coaches?

He has applied for legal aid.

He won't issue judicial review proceedings but the threat may cause them to alter their stance (along with the negative publicity that they are receiving).

His legal aid certificate will only cover him up to issuing proceedings. If he wants to issue he will need to apply to amend his legal aid certificate. If he gets permission he will issue the claim. Then a judge needs to consider whether permission should be given to allow the claim to proceed. If permission is granted WYP will have 35 days to put in a "defence".

The game will have taken place by then.

It will put further pressure on WYP though

Extra publicity is the only reason it's being done, I also suspect it's actually dad's idea.

The case that Ken Bates won is up for appeal. WYP are fighting a last rearguard action to keep their snouts in the football trough. I do not expect WYP to win the appeal but until it's heard there will be more of this sort of stuff going on. The authorities have managed to pull the occasional result out of the bag, but one Swallow does not a summer make.

Would you like a link? I am guessing you don't need one for the above.

I see John Prescott has thrown his weight behind the cause, i had a further discussion with my Burnley mate in regards to the bubblewrap games they have with Blackburn and found out that not only are the away fans bussed in and out of the town but the coaches are taken 4 at a time, with the others held back along the M65, it also transpires that the police had a 'practice run' when Leeds visited where all coaches were 'ordered' to be at a service station by a certain time and then escorted to the ground under a heavy Police escort, similar to the civil-rights movement buses entering a downtown Mississippi outpost in 1960s America(but without the rednecks).
The police obviously have adopted the 'Prevention is the cure' policy, which could be construed as understandable if they had 'intelligence' to suggest a breach of the peace is likely but the truth is they haven't and to brand a whole group of Hull fans under one banner is a very dangerous road to go down and very undemocratic.
Anyhow the WYP have imposed the service station voucher system for Millwall fans again on saturday which will result in an all-time low of away fans attending, hopefully Ken will win his case and sue the police for lost of earnings.

We had that at Sunderland in the Premiership- be at a certain service station or you will not be allowed into town.

The following week we were at Boro, and on the return journey, every coach and minibus was railroaded from the Riverside into East Yorkshire. Every turnoff was blocked, every roundabout was blocked by OB motorbikes, vans and cars, systematically.

It seems the Police all over the land have been treating football fans like scum for many years and are getting worst.
Anyone remember the Humberside Police turning back two coaches of 'Wall fans in 2005?, after a thorough search of everyone present they found no booze,no drugs and more importantly no one in breach of a banning order, however due to 'intelligence recieved'(which they don't have to reveal incidentally) they colluded with several police forces in escorting the coaches back to London with no stops, after a few press stories this injustice was forgotten about, although the little known ruling that all coach parties attending a football match(private or official) rule of informing the local police of what time you are arriving was more publicised.
Hopefully the Hull fans will keep this battle going and find the Police are acting illegally to get these draconian restrictions overturned.
