We've managed to give the promising youngster, Who was being scouted by Chelsea and more prem teams. 18 month contract for him. Luke Dobie has also managed to get a 18 month contract http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20130222-kransdobie-670742.aspx
Its the way we need to go in the future and is good news for once. For now I'd be happy with us bringing in a couple of experienced and no nonsence centre backs on loan to try and keep us up
I'd be happy to throw the youngsters in at the deep end tbh. I would much rather see Reid over Skuse/Pearson/Kilkenny. Krans I would like to see get some first team time as he scores pretty much every game for the under 21s like reid and burns did. The youngsters are looking very very promising indeed.
i really hope we get to see these boys on the pitch at some point soon. They might be the mainstays of our efforts to get promoted again next year.
Brilliant news but surely there must be some intelligent life up there at the head of our club who know we are desperate for quality central defenders or have they got their heads up their asses, the rest of us are aware of the problems, why don't they back up SOD with some action or is it SOD's doing...? please log in to view this image
Whose ever doing it is should look hard and long at there self as they're the reason were going down. Yes Mr McInnes look in the mirror!!
Not going to lie I never heard of him before Chelsea were apparantley interested, I've also never seen him play.. but he must be decent if Chelsea were interested..
Who Del who tried to get 4 defenders in the summer and failed with the negotiation who I think the board do that, and the same man that said in December we need some as well? You can blame him for ****ing around and tinkering the same as Millen but both wanted defenders. Plus your blaming the same person who found these players on this thread your praising.
yes he failed rod like you said, He failed here too. Its all very well finding youngsters but he didn't improve the team where it needed it most. Which was his downfall. Im sorry but fontaine is awful so pretty much anything would of been better.
Glad about that Shiny Because they are next season's first team and we will be relying on them to take us back up
But was it him who failed in getting the centre backs or was it the board, look back over 3 managers now SoD not got one Del had to rely on loans but wanted some, got 4 to the table but all turned away Even Millen tried to get defenders in But the only constant in all of this has been the board, like he forward signings as they seem to think that's what gets extra fans in the ground but forget about the defenders. As I said you can blame Del for a few things but getting defenders in when he publicaly stated he wanted some is not really his fault, likewise with Millen. Both inexperienced managers who I think looking back on both too weak to tell the board to give me some defenders.
Fontaine has been a stalwart at the heart of our defence for the past 5 years, which explains why we have been getting worse every year. Our present defence has played under the last 5 managers (including SOD) and none of them has managed to replace ;- Nyatanga - I mean WTF ! Carey - well past his fittest and not to be relied upon Bikey - Oh if only he were here Caulker - Oh if only he were here Both the immediate above were brought to the club by the much maligned Millen, the only one of the 5 who brought us any quality defenders, albeit loans Fontaine - had 2 seasons where he looked like he could be useful, then failed a medical for Southampton. Since then he has become one of the worst defenders I have ever seen in a City shirt, yet still he plays week in week out. Am I missing something ? It all adds up to a betrayal of common sense by the board, who have been so busy shouting the odds about and throwing money at Ashton Vale that they have ignored a growing disaster happening right under their noses. Next season we could leave Ashton Gate and play over the road in the park for all the crowd numbers we will get in Div bloody one :
I am wise enough to realise that what is said by footballers should be taken with a pinch of salt but assuming he is genuine Krans said: "I'm learning every day. So much has improved in my game over the past six months; my movement and understanding of the game. "There are always things you can improve on but I'm delighted to be given the chance to extend my contract, giving me more time to impress the gaffer. "I look at the likes of Joe Bryan, Bobby Reid and Wes Burns getting chances at first team level and it certainly gives me hope." Media speculation had linked Krans with Premier League big boys Chelsea earlier this month. But Krans said: "They phoned my agent and made an enquiry but I know my development. "I'm very happy at Bristol City, hence signing the contract, and I'll continue to work hard, score goals and impress the coaches here first and foremost." Krans is French, Dylan Castanheira, goalkeeper, is Portuguese but lived in USA, so we are already stretching the net a lot further than was previously done by our Academy. Long may all our youngsters continue to prosper at Bristol City
Coppel wasn't, and look what happened there. Fly on the wall Morning Steve Morning Steve I need to ask you, what are the chances of us securing another million or two to rebuild our hopeless defence ? None whatsoever, i'm afraid. I need all the cash to invest in our new, 40000 seater stadium for our hardcore 14,000 City supporters. Also, here is a few million to spend on 5 wingers, 4 forwards, a has-been England goaly and a bucket load of loanees to dig us out of the **** at the end of the season. Well I'm off then. I can see the way this is going and cant be bothered any more I know truth is often stranger than fiction, but who could deny they imagine this as the scenario that led to Coppell doing a runner
If any of you have seen Chelsea's youth squads you'll know that they rank amongst the best in the world. They recently beat Barcelona U21's in similar fashion to their Champions League epic, they have a number of fantastic talents and they work hard. Ultimately, it's the kind of academy I'd want to see us emulate. However, all this talk is worth absolutely **** all if we don't start playing some of our academy youngsters. If things get even more desperate this season I'd be happy to see SOD drop some first-team names and to give the academy kids a good run out and see if they can pick up some points.
"Media speculation" linked him with Chelsea....thats it? Hardly makes news headlines, but at least we can see some developement for our youth.
He has admitted Chelsea contacted his agent. Believe me there were interested and if he would of said yes then he would be off to London (where he's from)
