He said a couple of weeks ago that he was looking to enter the loan market and he's said he's kept tabs on Kane for ages. Doesn't look like a panic buy to me.
We was linked with Harry Kane in the summer but he choose to go to Norwich. Recently we found out that without Wood we struggle. Now we have decent back up
I think this is an accurate summary. Only Wood, Nugent, Vardy and now Kane were signed with the expectation that they'd go into the first team. Only Vardy has failed for reason Proud stated above. Waggy was signed because he was a prospect but he's never really improved since we signed him which is disappointing. Injuries haven't helped though. Schlupp and Futacs - as Proud said, inlcuding the bit about Schlupp moving to fullback.
I think the Wood injury would have been the deciding factor, so it goes back to the Peterborough game. That said, have we now entered the 93 day period that includes the play-offs? If so, this may have been his plan all along and Woods injury was just terrible timing. We could have got Kane on a half season loan in Jan but West Ham might not have wanted this because they'd be no recall option.
I thought that the Hull fans said that the 24th was the date when then could play in the play-offs. Didn't we have to do something about Waghorn in our play-off campaign a couple of seasons ago? I'm sure his loan ended before the play-offs and we were able to play him. Could be making all that up, but I do remember something similar happening.
The play off final is Monday 27th May We have Kane on loan for 93 days so that would fall just short of the play off final. But im pretty sure the football league allow the loan to be extended to after the play offs
I just worked it out, 24th is right. Maybe Pearson's brought it forward in a gamble to avoid missing the play-offs. As it stands, Kane will be able to play in the semis but not the final.
Just a thought. Do the play-offs count as a separate competition? I.E. Do you register a squad to play in it like you do in the league? If so then the lad might be able to play in the final. Not sure why we're bothered about it. Top 2 is still the aim.
I dont know anything about kane. Anyone wana tell me about his strengths and weaknesses? Is he prolific? Obviously nugent wont be dropped, but ofcorse we needed cover for the likes of vardy waghorn and futacs. Heres hoping we win our next game.
I think this maybe is why Pearson has compromised by bringing him before sat. We don't want to settle for the play-offs, so the priority is to win sat and take it from there.
After seeing him for England youth teams he's not someone you'd hoof the ball to. Likes the ball to his feet and he knows where the net is. Tidy player, not blessed with extreme pace but he can hold the ball up really well. Mix Nugent and Wood and you probably have Kane. Which is why he'll play for England in the future if he continues to develop well.
What happened to Vardy? I thought he was going to do really well after his start and then he seemed to fade away. He seems to have gone from hero to zero on here. Will he come brighter?
Confidence player. He has the ability but his head gets the better of him. Don't think he's appeared in the league since he gave the Middlesbrough penalty away either. He just needs to go to a club where he'll be the big fish and he can score a few goals and come back a decent player. However, if we get promoted he'll never play for us again. He's not good enough. He'll make a decent goalscorer for a lower-Championship team if he's given a full season to play.
Pleased with this, but don't want to see Nugent dropped for Kane- sure he's had a poor couple of games but he's been excellent so far this season, and brings so much for the team. Maybe Pearson doesn't think Wood's properly fit?
With regard to the point about not being available for the play-off final, there is apparently the option of sending a player back to his parent club for a few days over the international break, then getting them back again, making them available for the play-off final. Seems a bit iffy to me, but it seems it is allowed.
We can always ask Watford to help sort it out, they seem to be able to manipulate the loan market more than anyone else!
