That was the game we gave them the south stand. City fans did indeed run across the pitch from the north stand and have on pitch fight with the Bratfud mob.
From memory, Bradford needed to win at ours to guarantee promotion to the top flight. In their wisdom the club gave Bradford the home end as they would have more supporters than us, which fans took umbrage to. I was working at the Magistrates' Court then so I got to see the CPS footage, and remember seeing a load of my mates on it!!
Nah, it was to guarantee a play-off place and wasnt it to get promoted to what is now the Championship rather than top-flight? kamara was in charge and they lost 0-3 at home to Blackpool first leg (I think) and then won 0-3 away and went through on pens. And back to the game at ours Im sure there was fighting during the match when there were about 5 pitch invasions from the north stand. Didnt Duane Darby put us in front as well before we lost? Amazing the way I remember these things and cant recall what I had for dinner yesterday.

I (sort of) remember that game, I was but a wee whipper snapper, I remember leaving Fer Ark and seeing huge mobs in the street chucking bricks and stuff at each other. An elderly couple were watching from their window and saw my dad trying to keep me and my brother out the way and they came out and ushered us in away from it all. Other than the place being full of Bradford fans and that rather large scrap outside at the end, I can't remember **** all from that game.
Just wondering if when the coaches arrive in Huddersfield are the people on the coach escorted to the ground by the police and escorted out again. If so that is really insulting.
It wasn't a case of the club deciding to give the South Stand to Bradford. The police said that unless City agreed to it they would refuse to police the match meaning it could not go ahead. It was the one time I felt some sympathy for Martin Fish as he took a lot of stick for it but was put in an impossible position as there would have been severe repercussions for City if the game had not been played. Unbelievably the ****wits at Humberside Police suggested, in all seriousness that the South Stand be given to away fans on a permanent basis as they could park the buses on school car parks and escort away fans straight to the ground. Even they were made to realise the stupidity of that when teams like Southend would bring about 50 fans and have the whole of the South Stand whilst City had loads of fans crammed into a few steps on the North Stand (don't forget the Kempton wasn't fully open then, it was restricted to a very few in a membership scheme. The first pitch invasion occurred before the game had started.
