Was glancing at an article on OTIB about circumstances happening and having no Bristol City anymore, could you become one of the blue few and loyally support the "gas" or what would you do..?

I have watched them at Eastville a generation ago, I was sat in the old glasshouse and the tickets were complimentary and a few times at the minimal, every time and I mean every time I watched them, I felt strange, empty, no interest and there was nothing there to enjoy for me, win or lose I simply could not care less and I'm still the same today, I would watch Clevedon Town or go up the downs, nothing else football wise interest's me except Bristol City FC..

Also I enjoy our fans way of doing things, the humour, the shared disappointment, the shared joy, the gate and it's surroundings, the atmostsphere of the stadium, the red and white, you just can't beat it....

How would you cope, No Bristol City FC.....No Ashton Gate....?

(This may have been done before but let's check it out)

No the Gas at school were the kid who got a broomstick placed through both arms of his coat and then hung on the wall ... Still are now.

I would watch Easton Cowgirls as some of those lezzers are quite fit or the South Bristol club that would obviously fill the void of voidyness.

I wouldn't willingly watch them these days no, especially in Division 4 even if there was no BCFC.

I have seen them at Eastville when City were playing (when we won 4-1 in the league, and again when we unexpectedly won 2-1 in the FA Cup with kids, plus a 0-0 draw in a season that saw us both relegated!), against George Best and Man U (1-1 draw) and once at Eastville when City were away in the mid 70's just before our promotion. Total lack of emotion on my part, although I was pleased they beat Sunderland 2-1 while City were winning at Bolton on that occasion.

Another tale....A few season ago my Son and I decided to go away to see City at Chesterfield in L1. We got as far as East Midlands Airport before the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Rather than waste the day we decided to take in another match in the West or East Midlands only to find it was FA Cup day and very few games were due to be played ! After consulting the paper we decided on seeing West Brom v Leicester at The Hawthorns only to find that when we arrived it was a sell out. We hung around more in hope than expectation only to find that someone did have a pair of tickets they wanted to sell us at face value. We decided to support West Brom who were in the Championship at the time, rather than Leicester who were in the Prem. WBA duly obliged and won 1-0 with a penalty but even then we couldn't really get excited. It's just not the same.

So at the end of that ramble, I think it has to be your own team or nothing at all !

Well in the 50s i would go to watch Rovers one week and city the next, so inafect if i paid to go in, which i did, i was supporting both teams, but over time that fizzled and i was left supporting one team only, the ROBINS, obviously making the right choice, could i go and watch the gas if the unthinkable happened, no way, ONCE A RED, ALWAYS A RED. :)

I am City through & through but I have no great dislike of the Gas. My Dad, RIP, was an advid City fan his whole life... his ashes are buried behind the goal at the Atyeo end but he never disliked the Gas either. If City were playing away and it was too far to travel, he'd often take to me to Gas games because he just loved footy. He would insist that we stood in the away end though and we spent many afternoons at Twerton. I always look out for their results and am genuinely pleased that John Ward has them moving up the table as I would not like to see them fall into the conference.

They are and will likely always be the second team in Bristol and with Lansdown at the helm, it will stay that way.

I am a fan of Bristol sport, despite living across the pond, and I would like to see all of our teams achieve some measure of success as we have been a sporting backwater for way too long, other than the cricket club winning a few one day trophies.

Had to laugh on another thread when, in response to a request for
suggestions, the first thing many of you came up with was
    more exits! <laugh>

I went down on tuesday to give my support to Rotherham but hated every minute being in there ground it just felt wrong. If I couldn't watch city I would lose interest in football and go and watch arsenal when I could

When the same question was posed on your site for the South Glos stadium. 78% of respondents suggested the stands should face away from the pitch!

I would support Man Utd at Old Trafford, but there would be a deep sadness for the rest of my days

Don't have any particular dislike for the Gas, but as I don't come from Bristol I would not follow them - if it happened I suppose it would be Dorchester Town - may take the time to watch some other league clubs like Yeovil and Bournemouth

I would not go and see them, I don't hate them just have no attachment to them what's so ever. I have once in the 80's when they played Leicester as I wanted to see Lineker and Alan Smith at Eastville, Leicester won I think 3-0.
I do love watching Football so would probably try and see someone.
I can remember when Newport County went out of the league's for a while a lot of friends were floating around some went to Wolves just because of the colours others floated between City, Rovers and Cardiff just to see who they connected with.
Me I would probably do the same just to watch Football but due to the rivalry between us could not do Rovers.

Funny enough talking of rivalry I was chatting to some Cardiff fans in work today and they were all saying that they don't like us being at the bottom of the table! And that they hoped that we got our act in gear and pulled away as Bristol being the size it is should have some success. I was expecting something to follow but they said they geniune.

I don't wish the Gas any harm. I just don't support them and I never could.
Most of their fans want us to suffer and now they seem to be safe in their little league are loving our plight.
