So, at no point did it occur to him to glance into the bed to check whether his girlfired was still in it as he went past it and into the bathroom and shot the **** out of the intruder in the bog?

Nor did it occur to leave them in the toilet while he called the police, he was holding a gun it's not like they had some advantage over him.
