yes you are right that did work BUT without someone actually up front Suarez cannot roam or we are in a west brom type of game space. We would need to see what zenit intend to do. some sides come and with their lead would sit and defend... which would suit us to push.... then hulk is a big danger for breaks... OR they could come and intend to get that away goal. my worst case is we have 60% of the ball and no goals cos every time our full backs look up there's nobody in there... just like west brom. I hope with allen and lucas in there we can see lucas focus on blocking off those breaks as allen hasn't got the technical discipline rodgers talked about in preseason.. he moves forward as the game goes on and we get more desperate. Hey its a no lose game... as long as we are seeing to be trying and a re heroic even in defeat... I just hope we get guys in the box! I predict 0-0 at half time.

We don't have the man up top but that's why I'd like to see Gerrard behind Suarez. If anyone in the squad can fill in as a CF then I think that man is Stevie G! We all know Gerrard is superb at finding the space and by playing him just behind Suarez it means he can exploit the space Luis creates. I'd rather see us do that then play Shelvey upfront
I'd also like to see that happen, but rodgers has resisted it so far despite months of having only luis. He worked sterling tin toeh gorund for no result while he did so and now he's out of the team and forgotten. I'd go 4-4-1-1 with gerrard working that angle, downing on the left and told to get out of enrique's way.... but hendo on the right? not great.. he'll work but again needs to work to allow johnson's overlap. all in all i think 0-0 first half and rodgers throwing the kitchen sink at it in the second... ie he puts on a negative sub

I agree that Hendo on the right isn't great but BR won't put anyone else there unless Sterling or Wisdom play.
You need an early goal imo, get one & I reckon you'll probably overturn their advantage, if they see out 25-30 mins, then I reckon the atmosphere will be nervy, impatient & a bit arsey, which could work in their favour.

If Shelvey starts I don't think I'll watch it. It's not that I don't like this false 9 business it's just that he's **** at it, I would like to see Gerrard doing that job if we are going to play the formation. It would make more sense to keep the formation that we usually play, players are getting used to it and know what is required all Rodgers has to do is lect someone to replace Sturridge, Sterling is the obvious choice. I'm also worried that Rodgers may approach this game with patience when it's clear that we need to go at them early doors and get a goal.
