So would I, obviously, I'm not saying that I'm preferring being in our position. Just saying that we were 7 points behind you with no games in hand before, and we caught that up within a month. Again, not saying we will catch you, but before you start the "Have fun in the playoffs" posts, just remember what happened the last time you made comments like these Also, you can look at it the other way around. In January, you were "out of form, falling out of the automatic picture slightly", and now look where you are. Still 45 points for us to play for, things change very quickly.
Very true Jack. Both sets of fans seem to get rather giddy after a few good results. If this season has shown us anything, each team is capable of beating another (apart from maybe Wolves) so nobody can predict who will end up in the autos and in the play offs. As a wise man (Baldrick I think) once said "there will be more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing" before this season is through. All that matters is the next game so all fans should just concentrate on that. But having said that, were above you
Good post I try to not get too carried away when we win, and not too down when we lose. Spent far too long in this league to do the opposite What is happening to Wolves!? Didn't realise they had slipped in to the bottom three. Could they actually get relegated again? Surely not!?
Jack, c'mon, THAT is not evidence that Konchesky's a better defender than Brady, you know it and I know it. Maybe AKBOLLOCKO will enlighten us, as it was he that suggested that Konchesky was the better player, I'd just like him to offer up some evidence as to why, I've given mine but it appears he's done one and left you holding the baby! This is not a pissing contest, I'm simply asking him to provide evidence to back up his statement.
But what's your "evidence" that Brady is a better player? He's had 4 more assists and more shots? But, as I am often told by you guys, you play 3 at the back with 2 wingbacks, which means Brady plays higher up the pitch, and is the main source of your crosses from the left hand side, so of course his assists and shots will be higher. Konchesky has Knockaert playing infront of him... Enough said there. For the record, I am by no means stating that Konchesky is some sort of world beater, he does a solid job for us, but feel this could be his last season as first choice LB for us. I don't really know a lot about Brady, just the odd opinion on your board that he's good going forward but can't defend for toffee (please correct me if I'm wrong...) It's not easy to compare the two, as they play different positions in different formations.
Jack, horses for courses I guess, your mate kicked this off by stating that he wouldn't swap Konchesky for Brady, which looks to be a strange, and fairly biased, not to forget absolutely crazy, decision. I'm sure that any manager worth his salt, even Pearson, would see the sense in swapping a young successful attacking wingback that can also defend, for an ageing leftback, but apparently not AKCJ
A problem due in large part to Nigel Pearson's (expensive) signings of Aaron McLean and Jay Simpson - both decent players in other respects but bought as strikers and both with strike rates which are considerably worse than Nick Proschwitz. I wouldn't say that Pearson and Walsh have bad judgement on the basis of a couple of signings that haven't come off because we all know that their success rate is much higher. Certainly it's always good to see goals coming from a nominated striker but, as I'm sure the Cardiff fans would confirm, it's not bad to see them coming from all areas of the pitch. Finally, we're all delighted to see Gedo score three such important goals in his two starts but it would be wrong to consider him simply as a goal scorer. He's a very hard working player who defends from the front and gives defenders no peace. It is early days for him but the signs are very good.
We will both go up auto Jack Or one will make automatic and one of us will win the play offs Both sets of fans happy. Both on the premier league boards I really hope that happens , plus I win my bet. Fingers crossed. Take it from me akcj Gedo is class... I wouldn't say that unless I thought it was true. Prossie was a risk that never worked out. I don't rate him one bit. Maybe he will come good but I don't think he will.. Just my opinion.
Some good points scattered amongst the testosterone fuelled ares scratchings on this thread ... For me it's simple - we are capable of going on another winning run and it is not impossible by any means to achieve automatic promotion - but it is better to be in those spots to start with and stay there - simples - so currently Cardiff and Hull are ideally placed What is apparent is that we need to break ourselves out of this run without further damage - another loss this weeked at Blackpool could be seriously damaging - it would be the fourth on the bounce to a team languishing towards the lower end of the division - not good for confidence or goal difference and the chances are that the other teams around us, who seem to have hit a run of form, would move further away. We should try and steer away from (or at least not get too antagonistic in respect of) arguments as to who has the better player in ANY position - the tribalistc nature of football combined with the relative amount of time we spend watching our own versus opposition players make such arguments pointless as it really is a pissing contest ... personally I have never been a big fan of Paul Konchesky - he will get taken apart by any good tricky wide man and his decision making on whether to dive in to a tackle is very poor - because invariably he dives in and in a dangerous area (and can't seem to make a distinction between the penalty area and outside of it). There -I've said it - does it make me less of a Leicester fan? hope not I've always had players I like better than others. Hands up - I am in no position to comment on Robbie Brady - would need to see him regularly or at least on the telly a lot more to do so.
That brings good reasoned balance and rationale to the debate Fosse, and confirms to me, as if confirmation was needed, that AKCJ - who has mysteriously gone very quiet on this thread - types posts without first engaging brain!
"Mysteriously gone very quiet" It's been 6 hours since he last posted. Chill out, I don't think we should be calling the police to report a missing person just yet
Cardiff won't get automatic promotion. There lead could vanish if Hull, Leicester and Watford beat them . Teach those Cardiff C---S right for the thumping I got at Ninian Park going back in time. Grrrr
