Sorry but I can't resist posting this as it made me laugh a lot.. ZENIT St Petersburg will pose Liverpool FC a massive bigotry test, admits manager Brendan Rogers. Special US consultant ‘Cleetus’ is working with the team The two teams were drawn in the Lidl Champions League, and Liverpool face an uphill battle to prove themselves the more racist and homophobic team. Rogers said: “I’ve got the lads watching old Bernard Manning tapes to work on their pin-eyed hatred and we’re travelling to a rural pub in Yorkshire tomorrow with a gay dance troupe from Namibia to study how the locals react. “People have been bigging up this club’s intolerance and Zenit are a massive challenge as they’re so suspicious of outsiders they blew up their own airport to stop any strangers coming to town. “We’re having to get a coach there. You cannot buy that level of commitment to being a small-minded moron. Unless you’re Chelsea, obviously.” Zenit fans recently wrote to their board insisting they never sign black or gay players. Previous requests for things they don’t want at their ground have included ‘anyone who eats salad’ and ‘anyone who has been to an art gallery’. Liverpool are hoping the racism of Suarez combined with the homophobia of Suso will be enough to see off Zenit but admit this might falter in the face of 65,000 drunk Russians armed with road flares. Rogers said:”If all else fails we can get the lads to call everyone in the stands ‘Boris’ and offer them a bottle of vodka. Expensive and time-consuming but a really comprehensive stab at being a xenophobic arse.”
long shot, but who takes the pens if we get that far, Id say Stevie,Downing,Jonno,Luis and Hendo based on likely starters with Agger,Carra and Sterling as back up.We look to have a weak pens line up, but in the past Pepe has been very good in shoot outs
It seems to me that we need penalty takers, nobody inspires confidence at the moment not even Gerrard. I know it's a lottery and that hit and hope can just go either teams way but I would like to be a little more assured when a player steps up.
I reckon Suso would be able to take a penalty since he seems to have such a clam head. Will he be on the pitch though?
first off we played "respect" bibs v "skins" so the bib theorists can say agger carra gerrard lucas and suarez start like we didn't know. If you line up the "rumoured" team... and i put the air quotes on sarcastically as every bloody time we play daydo is able to post our exact team cos we leak like a stupid sieve. Fair play to daydo but i hate the fact we can know the line up., there's enough history over the season for me to be confident this is it. whinge over. now the team: reina johnson Carra Agger Enrique Lucas allen Hendo Gerrard suarez downing thats the only sense i can make of it as a regular formation. Now if you were to say to me that we think zenit can be got at with our full backs and we're going to stick in two screening players and almost of 2-4-2-2 or some such rubbish i'd get it. Cup ties and injures mean we don't have moany options up top do we? in the end we've not got someone to put in with suarez whichever way you look at it. BUT at least shelvey was not suck up there and i don't have to go villify the manager by calling him a total clown before the game.... which is nice.
we've not really played that way at any time with rodgers though? Its a 4-5-1 really. is rodgers forgetting we are 0-2 down and puting men in to negate hulk etc? anyway... i can't see us scoring
