I missed that, SC. Liverpool are kicking off against Sporting in a minute, which I believe is on Eurosport and Arsenal don't play til the 6th of March. Full house? Be disappointing if anyone went out now...
Because the Villa youth team is their first team? They seem to have realised that spending large amounts of money on journeymen on big wages isn't going to push them to another level, so they've gone for the youth approach, instead. A sensible move, in my opinion, but they've overdone it a bit and failed to get rid of their older players, so they're still paying for them anyway.
Ended 4-0 to Sporting, so Liverpool become the 2nd English side to be eliminated from the competition, after City's failure to exit their group. Looks like the Portuguese side might have another group of impressive youngsters coming through in the next couple of years.
It's back up: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/psg-report-20022013.page? PSG were unbeaten in the competition until last night. We seem to be breaking a few of those runs recently, with Liverpool's U21 record going last week.
Hadn't noticed you could make so many subs before. I hope it isn't a mistake and we get chucked out again
Just to say that the kick-off time for this Saturday is now 11:00 and not 12:00 as orignally planned.
The NextGen Series rules state that a club can make up to five substitutions, so long as play is only interrupted a maximum of three times. So two double substitutions and a single substitution are fine.
We're at home against Sporting Lisbon in the next round. http://www.nextgenseries.com/ They've produced a lot of quality players so should be an excellent test for our youngsters.
"We're at home against Sporting Lisbon in the next round." Sporting have established a similar pedigree to Spurs during their Nextgen participation. On paper a good test but without Pritchard I fear for the boys. Villa look like they have a good chance of a SF performance.
Sporting totally demolished Liverpool in the last round, though the Scousers were missing a number of key players. This will be a very hard test for our youngsters and it'll be a good chance to see if we can spot the next Ronaldo in their ranks, if one exists.
