Golden Cygnet's rating of 176 remains the highest for a novice hurdler in Timeform history, whilst only four novices - the illustrious quartet of Danoli, Alderbrook, Baracouda and Iris's Gift - have managed to top the 170 mark during the intervening thirty-five years. The Supreme Novices' Hurdle is reportedly still the Cheltenham Festival target for My Tent Or Yours, who'll hold strong claims of being able to emulate Golden Cygnet's effortless fifteen-length demolition of a good field back in the 1978 renewal of that race if he turns up in the same sort of form as at Newbury.
Nice bit of placing there by Venetia..again. Also a nice ride from young Harry Challoner..didn't panic and took his time.
That Betfair Hurdle form is being overrated ............... same as last year (Zarkandar <cough> <run>)
True George..throw in the likes of Ararun as well. However, those years lacked the strength and depth of this year and I can see it being a smaller field than usual come the day.
Egyptian Warrior is a bet at 9/4. Have also backed his other runner Shield at 10s E.W and the forecast good luck
However, those years lacked the strength and depth of this year and I can see it being a smaller field than usual come the day. Cue Card, Sprinter Sacre, Spirit Son & of course the winner Al Ferof. Lacked the strength and depth ? really Dex :O
LOL at that ride on Egyptian Warrior what chance have you got. Never mind don't think he would have won anyways
...It is a bit early to equate MTOY with Golden Cygnet! In the Scottish CH of 1978 GC,as a novice, was giving dual Champion Hurdler Night Nurse 5lb and Beacon Light 7lb whilst only recieving a pound from the great Sea Pigeon. He cantered up behind NN and SP before crashing out with the race at his mercy. There are few hurdlers that can legitimately be mentioned in the same breathe as GC and MTOY certainly isn't one as far as i'm concerned. I don't see any similarities except for the mane, tail and four legs. Still we'll give him the benefit of the doubt thus far!

Another double with the favs in hunter chases could never have picked the one at ludlow so glad i put down favs thats £70 odd for my tenner
RV not a bad year I suppose, but, none of them even attempted a second season over timber. This is a hurdle race and there are many great chasers who have finished down the field. That year the winner returned a 142 mark...Jezki is already 144.
Hurricane Fly, Quevega, Pont Alexandre all to win at Cheltenham 20/1 on paddy power seems a massive price to me
O'Regan didn't give a **** if he won that or not... I know I'm always on about schooling but it is really is a ****ing pandemic currently.
