Just watched it again tonight for about the 15th time.
Has there ever been a better boxing movie made? I don't think so.
Everytime it takes me through every emotion you could think of.
Scorsese & De Niro at their ultimate best. Joe Pesci too was very good.

How the hell did De Niro put on so much weight for the final scenes?
Can't believe this film is 33 years old. Watched it with my dad when it first came out.
Afterwards, I went out & got the book by Jake La Motta that it was based on.
It goes by the same title & is a cracking read.

La Motta could have been a true legend in boxing but he had major problems with mental health issues, jealousy & raw anger that he found uncontrollable.
Basically, the man was a ****ing animal & what with him being an Italian American, the mafia got their claws in him.

The way he ended up was just such a sad end to what could have been a glittering career.

Raging Bull is a good film. I also enjoyed Million Dollar Baby and The Fighter, both good films and well worth a watch.

I've never seen it..Boxing films, as well as gangster films (I once tried to watch one of The Godfather movies: what a pile of pish) are ones that I generally avoid..

Have you not watched Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, or Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels?

I actually quite enjoyed Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels, probably because of the tongue in cheek comedy value that it portrayed..Pulp fiction, to a lesser extent also also falls into this category, so therefore I did find it watchable..

Its not just a great, nay classic boxing film Billy, its one of the all time greatest films ever mate. I watched it agaion too for the umpteenth time.

De Niro and Pesci are simply movie electricity together as they were in Goodfellas. Martin Scorsese is a magnificant film maker.

Nice Guy Eddie: C'mon, throw in a buck!
    Mr. Pink: Uh-uh, I don't Rep.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't Rep?
Mr. Pink: Nah, I don't believe in it.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't believe in Repping?
Mr. Blue: You know what these chicks make? They make ****.
Mr. Pink: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money that she can quit.
Nice Guy Eddie: I don't even know a ****ing Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you don't ever Rep?
Mr. Pink: I don't Rep because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a Rep, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this Repping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.
Mr. Blue: Hey, our girl was nice.
Mr. Pink: She was okay. She wasn't anything special.
Mr. Blue: What's special? Take you in the back and suck your dick?
Nice Guy Eddie: I'd go over twelve percent for that.
Mr. Pink: Look, I ordered coffee. Now we've been here a long ****ing time and she's only filled my cup three times. When I order coffee, I want it filled *six* times.
Mr. Blonde: Six times. Well, what if she's too ****ing busy?
Mr. Pink: The words "too ****ing busy" shouldn't be in a waitress's vocabulary.
Nice Guy Eddie: Excuse me, Mr. Pink, but I think the last ****ing thing you need is another cup of coffee.

    Reservoir Dogs,

Funny how people look at things differently..

To myself, one of the most aweful movies ever made, how it ever got banned is beyond belief...

I put it, that the Usual Suspects is a far better movie in every way.

Yep, totally agree. Scorsese & De Niro have made so many great films together.
Taxi Driver & Mean Streets come to mind, Goodfellas, Cape Fear & Casino.

One of my favourite actors & directors
