For the last 3 seasons we have proven that we struggle at this level of competiton and based on the fact that we are 0-2 down at Palace it's time we admitted that we just aren't good enough. The reasons are well known and don't deserve to be dragged up again and again because it just makes the situation more unsavoury. Just look at our situation after what is an almost certain defeat tonight and say with all honesty that we deserve better than the relegation that faces us all. Lousy decisions followed by more of the same is no way to improve your lot in life and we just kept going down the same ill advised path. Several of the teams around us now have games in hand, with Posh having 2 in hand, and we expect our survival to be gained by winning our home games when we are absolutely lousy when we travel. Perhaps if we had the same success at Ashton Gate in the earlier part of the season rather than saving it until it is virtually too late then maybe, just maybe, we might habve been in a better position tonight. Try as I might I can't see the miracle happening and perhaps it's time for us to accept the fact that we are going down. I wish I were wrong but I am prepared to accept the cold hard facts of life.
So am I. I must say that honestly I'm no more enamoured with SO'D now than I had become with his predecessor. The last five City managers have all failed to bring in permanent decent centre backs, so we just go on shipping goals due to total ineptitude at the back. And going out with this defensive attitude - only one striker - really sucks. We never looked like getting a goal tonight. Back where we deserve to be - propping up the other 23. I'm going for a very long walk in the country with our dog next Saturday afternoon. Can't bear to listen to any more of it.
So how did we win our last 3 at home then with 2 clean sheets in the bargin - this sort of reaction to an expected defeat is what I was trying to deter as WE AIN'T DOWN YET
I love your optimism Prem and I wish some of it would rub off on me and a lot of other supporters but I'm afraid it's time to wake up and smell the roses. Sorry.
I also don't think we have the right to lay the blame at Sean's feet because the rot had already set in long before his time and to a lesser degree DM's.
I think in the past couple of seasons I have been pretty adamant we would not go down....PROBLEM IS this season is like no other since we have been back up....win one lose one win lose one now means we have to win 2 and where will 6 points put us? Level with Barnsley if they lose the next 2, above Wolves Huddersfield Sheffield if they also lose 2 OH AND PETERBRO goodness gracious we are in the hands of the other teams to let us stay up...............................
No we are not down yet, but even though I don't expect to win some games I still hope we would. But we won't without trying and tonight we went to play defensive with the rubbish we have. You can go on all you like saying we won't go down, but in the cold light of the day I wish the players thought like you do. But did you honestly enjoy listening to that tonight, did you shout at the radio go on? I didn't I can't remember three shots on target. One being Fosters the other the own goal, was Spironi playing I didn't hear his name mentioned.
Yawn - here we go again. Win one game we are chasing the playoffs, lose and we are doomed. I have said before, we were always expected to lose against Palace - and this season we are 5-4 up on Cardiff and 5-3 up on palace.
IMO the damage was already done and am totally convinced we wouldn't be where we are, had SOD been manager at the beginning of the season, but as I said, that's my opinion. It doesn't look good with the other sides around us cracking a bit of form.....all I ask, is we give 100% and keep fighting.
SEVEN games, SEVEN that is all he has had. Bit silly and reactionary. Seven games is no appraisal time = Kick up the ass. Try thirty or forty or more because all he can do in weeks is concentrate on things like team shape. He can't teach the squad skills it does not have. Elliott won't become Pirlo! Those seven games form as a season would see City out of the bottom. Aspects of the team have improved and adopting a conservative team shape v McInnes not having one gives the team a chance of being competitive. The game starts at 0-0 under McInnes City conceded too many to be in games.
Too big a gap is forming now. We are firmly rooted at the bottom and with our form compared to the likes of Barnsley and Posh, I can only see it getting worse. The only glimmer of hope is that the likes of Wolves, Millwall(?) Hudders ect all continue to implode and a few others go on the "end of season bad run" that often happens. We are a pretty ****ty city at the moment thats for sure, and I see nothing other that L1 next term. Still, at least we will have a chance to re-build and possibly be playing football thats exciting to watch...
Actually you have to go up to 8th till you find a gap! anyteam below 8th can win a game and move up a place, a LEEDS WIN TONIGHT would be beneficial in the wider picture
We musn't count on other teams to get good results for our benefit, we have to do it ourselves and right now we don't have a squad that can get results on the consistent basis we need to stand any chance of staying up.
Its not just winning....we need 7........and then still not sure of being safe...........the teams that lose least in the next 13 games will survive Sheff lost 1 in 10 won 5 drawn 4 =19 pts bcfc won 4 lost 6 = 12pts winning our next 2 is still only won 5 lost 5 = 15 pts
Bit harsh on SoD Wiz - he inherited a squad that was dis-organised, soft and lacking confidence. 7 Games in - at least we appear more organised and harder to beat. Yes, it's a very tough task, but we can still get out of this - squad might "need some help" from the loan market though
If City win on Saturday...then SO'Ds record would won 4 lost 4...now that would be excellent work on his part...we can still stay up but it's going to be very difficult!!
The manager was given a target of 10 wins from 20 games. So far he has won 3 games out of 7 games so he still needs another 7 wins out of 13 games so he is winning roughly half of his games and yes we lost our last two games but they were against Cardiff and Palace who are likely to both go up this season. I dont think the style of football under SOD has been that great to watch and we get undone against 1 touch footballing teams but the team is in general playing better and thats with quite a few injuries. If we lose to Barnsley on saturday then yes I might also be abit worried but its a game we can win given our current home form and then we have an away tie against Blackpool whos form hasnt been good since Hollowhead left so is winnable. Its simple a couple of a wins and we again could again be looking pretty. Current form: LWWLWLL
