GC is full of sweatys who won't let you get a word in edge ways and its clikey, why should I have to go over there and mix with people I wouldn't normally do when we can have our own off topic section and I can talk with the qpr lads......
You have a point here, Cerny. Members of the board generally want to have a chat with their QPR mates on an OT Board - and not be obliged to fraternize with strangers on General Chat unless they want to
That's a very one-sided argument with respect. You fail to even mention the other side of the problem which is people taking offence at everything and calling for bans every 10 minutes. There's two sides to this situation COL and you should recognise that. You have no problem calling for a sub-section for certain stuff that you don't want your kid to see though. Here's an idea: Don't let your under age kids scour the internet unsupervised. This isn't a play group.
Did not get to post on the first roll as been running around the planet working. IMO... Football has always been a place where traditionally blokes come to have a chat - and some football ensues. At games this year - I've been to all the home games and most of the away games - we have talked about how to best boil rice Al Queda Racism in Football Public and Private Schooling? Rise of the right wing politics in football My mate having surgery One likely divorce Mens vs womens rights in child custody ETc Also Is tarb a classic no 10 and why we love to hate to love to hate to love him Koreans at football Cisse Mark Hughes vs Warnocl and on and on and on This site - is a bit more adult than most other footy sites - hence my choice to come here and the conversations that are OT - reflect pretty much the OT topics - sometimes personal - sometimes not that happen. What does happen in the site - which I hate and think the MOds should be stronger on i bullying - cyber bullying is no less worse than the twats in the playground. So when Swords used to start name calling - ethnic, racist, elitist in any way - it winds me up. With your mates - at the game - you would not tolerate it - it break harmony - you marginilise someone who does not come back - in the past in groups of lads I've hung out with - we've pushed the bully out of the circle of love cuase they make others uncomfortable - we are all QPR - all views welcome - but not to pick on others - even if you hate their opinion - I think on line - if we want a community - we have to be a bit stricter than in person - we don't have the ' sorry mate - no offence and real hug etc on line and we don't know each other. I think the mods do a good job. OT posts are part of football. I once say in a taxi in spain for 2 hours in traffic and talked about life through the genre of football with the taxi driver who spoke no english and me no spainish - it is a metaphor - OT is on topic Bullying is being a twat and I say ban that.

Very well said and the reason why I can't be bothered with the site much any more. The problem needs dealing with, it's toxic.
I have another proposal which probably won't be that popular but I'll float it anyway and see what you think. PENALTY POINTS What about introducing a system whereby anyone that steps out of bounds is banned for a week (or two) and incurs a fixed penalty of 2 points. Over the season, if someone amasses 12 penalty points they are then banned from the Site for the rest of the season. However, at the conclusion of the season in May, all penalty points are wiped clean and everyone starts afresh for the new campaign. Its not too unlike the system they have in place for motorists, indeed that's where I got the idea from. Some members (myself, Queens, Imaz, DT etc) have incurred different bans of varying severity over the course of the last year and may feel that previous misdemeanors are like a noose around their necks, however reformed they may now be. Are those indiscretions to be held against those members for eternity or should they be given a clean bill of health once the new season commences? A penalty points system which could be organised into a table and bumped up whenever updates are required, would leave everyone in no doubt as to theirs and everyone else's current status and it would be openly transparent for all to see. With such a system in place there would be no ambiguity as to whether someone may or may not have been punished unfairly and there could be no accusations of favouritism which unfortunately has dogged the Moderators in the past despite them (in my opinion at least) having treated everybody fairly and equitably. In my view, such a scheme would (A) help the Moderators who all too often get accused of banning people unfairly but also (B) allow all members to assess the discipline of every poster at all times and therefore leave no room for any doubt as to where everybody is at. Any thoughts?
I actually think that is not a bad idea at all. The only problem i can see is the extra work it might incur for Brix and Nuts, so the question is how would they feel about enforcing it.
With a bit of hard work and a fair wind behind, system should be ready to go by April 1st ;-) Also think parking tickets could be introduce if certain posters are hanging around a particular thread too long and refuse to move on.....
Is sounds good in principle Swords but i have my doubts it would work. There are different levels of indiscretions. For example, say somebody uses launguage, does that incur the same penalty points as somebody who threatens violence? Should racism be treated the same as sexism etc etc....... There would be endless arguements over who was awarded what penalty points and why and how comes so and so only got so many even though he said this that and the other......... Not a bad idea but personally, I think it would make things worse rather than better. Just to add, I don't know anyone that was banned unfairly. Anybody I have ever seen banned deserved it. Just my opinion.
Purely a personal opinion, but a general rule of thumb, if it's not fit for work then it's not fit for this board. There are plenty of other places to view soft porn, be offensive, if that's your thing. I wouldn't start a sub strand of the board just go to a different board for that stuff if you're into it
Penalty points is a nice idea, but before long someone will demand we set up an appeal panel and the thing will take on a life of its own...
I don't see the point of a penalty point system, there are a small number of posters who are regularly causing problems, we all know who they are and so do the Mods, therefore, let the Mods do their job when necessary...
