Arsene only doing what the Boards wants. Get to the champions league every year and keep the Arsenal yts scheme going while keeping the club in the black. The Frenchman was behaving like a tool while being interviewed on Sky yesterday even suggesting that they can win the Champions league
If wenger does leave (he wont be sacked) then I guarantee within 12 months he would be offered a job at one of Europe's top clubs, if he was still interested in working in management. I think that shows how highly he is thought of all over Europe.
I would be OK with it if he left at the end of the season, only IF they agree to bring in a long-term manager we've been considering for a while. I would be against removing him "on principle" for bad performance, as then we would be getting a replacement that might or might not be a long-term manager we've considered before. Any sub-par manager ending up with the current squad we have would be a major downgrade, we could be hit a lot worse than Liverpool. So if it's a replacement we've considered for a while, yes now is as good a time as ever for Wenger to leave. But if it's an unplanned knee-jerk decision based on Wenger's performances, we'd almost certainly end up far worse.
My post was a more general response to that attitude than your post specifically. I highlighted you because you had mentioned Enrique. On reading it back i maybe directed it at you more than your post had warranted! My bad
I'm not so sure that that would be the case. I'm sure that he would be offered the French national job and probably the likes of Shanghai Shenhua, Anzhi and other nouveau riche clubs in developing leagues would want him but the top clubs in the elite leagues of Europe? Top clubs want instant success and a win at all costs mentality. That hasn't been Wenger's stock-in-trade for a long time now.
Real Madrid would take him in a flash. Mourinho would be out the door if Wenger wanted the job. He has turned it down on more than one occasion and Mourinho is failing.
Precisely. And when they went head-to-head, Mourinho out-managed Wenger. If Mourinho can't handle the pressure at Madrid, does anyone seriously think Wenger can? Real might have coveted Wenger half-a-decade ago, before the lack of trophies was considered much of an issue, but why would you think they want him now?
It's only a couple of seasons since Wenger was voted best manager of the decade. He is VERY highly thought of outside of England. And those running football clubs understand the financial restraints he has worrked under at Arsenal. He would have no shortage of job offers from National teams, Top european club teams and the sugar daddy clubs you mentioned.
That is a huge assumption? Guess? I don't know what else. Right now Arsenal play 4-2-3-1 which is pretty much the favored formation in the PL, and we play a fairly normal passing game. We don't play that much different from Man U, Chelsea, Spurs, Man City etc. If you think we are going to win the leage sitting back and playing 4-4-2 tlike Stoke you are crazy. I just don't see where this revoloutionary style of play is going to come from. This big DM thing everyone always goes on about just isn't as big of a change as everyone wants to make out. End of the day fact is that even if we get a top player, like RVP or Nasri we are going to lose him to someone who can pay him twice as much and is going to give him a better shot at a title. The only way we can get better is if we go into debt for a few years and "Hope" that somehow we can sustain that by gettin Usmanov to fund it, or increase our fan base to United levels. Right now Jack is our only real top player and we need 2-3 more to really compete.
On the tactics front I agree entirely. 4-2-3-1 is the formation du jour for nearly every team in Spain, Germany and France, as well as England. Seven out of the top ten teams in England use it more often than anything else; the teams that remain are City (who are far more successful playing 4-2-3-1 than they are with their preferred 4-4-1-1), Everton (who struggle against 4-2-3-1 teams) and Stoke (not exactly enviable). Mourinho plays it; Ferguson plays it; Klopp plays it; Heynckes plays it exclusively at Bayern. To suggest that Wenger needs to stray from it yet perform better makes little sense.
Poll Update. 12 want Wenger to stay (AKB) while 7 want Wenger to leave (AOB). Oh and I excluded any votes made by non-Arsenal fans.
I hate to burst the AKB club bubble but he will be gone soon either way . Whatever will we do then ? Get relegated i suppose. He is after all the only coach in the world........... Ease off on them apron strings...............its a big world out there .
I don't think any of us are under the impression that Wenger will be manager for the rest of his life.
But if it was possible , you would lap it up gladly and bask in the warm glow of past glories.. ps the OP must be lolling at the success of this WUM triumph. He is after all the Chav equivalent of HIAG . tsk tsk
No one is saying he is the only manager out there, but I have a feeling that if he does go and we immediatly drop to mid-table, there are not going to be a whole lot of people saying that Wenger leaving caused it. There are going to be a huge number of other reasons that will be apparently "obvious". This is one of the few times where the ABW crew have made a positive rather than a negative point and you are going to be held to task for it, if it doesn't work out. There is no weaseling out of it by saying that Arsenal didn't get the right replacement, or he didn't get the funding or anything else.
It is possible, and I'm lapping nothing up gladly. What a weird way to put it. I'm happy for him to stay though, if that's what you mean.
