Yea that was funny but also pathetic - he wants to emphasise that he didn't buy the paper again and in doing so, stupidly admits that he resorted to skulking in the aisle and reading it on the shelf of the supermarket for free, like a down and out ... come to think of it then, that's probably how he read the Saturday edition in the first place.

LENNON'S IRISH TRICOLOUR COLLAR BREAKS UEFA RULES

It is an obsession with a foreign country which must perplex and even anger Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond.

And yet, no hack has raised the issue and asked wee Eck for his reaction. I wonder why?

After all, it is not as though Salmond is some sort of shy, retiring shrinking violet. There has never been a bandwagon he hasn’t been happy to jump aboard. Never a spotlight he hasn’t wanted to tap dance in. Never a Scottish cause whose trumpet he has not been keen to blow.

Apart from this one.

The question is simply, this: why does the manager of the Scottish Champions, the club representing Scotland in the European Champions League, wear a foreign flag on the collar of his track suit?

Why not, for instance, the Saltire? Or is Neil Lennon ashamed of his adopted country’s flag? Is there something about it he finds distasteful?

Too blue, perhaps? Too blue and white, perhaps?

Well, you know, I am a decent chap. An understanding soul who is always willing to try to see the other fellow’s point of view and I can understand why Neil Lennon would not want to incense the hateful IRA supporting bigots of the Green Brigade by wearing the Saltire on the collar of his track suit.

Perhaps he lives in fear of offending these dangerous terrorist supporting zealots.

But why does he not merely opt for the club colours? Green and White. Why does he have to add another colour, a colour which has nothing to do with Celtic, in order that the collar of his tracksuit resembles the flag of a foreign country, in this case the Republic of Ireland?

And who is at Celtic who allows this to happen? Peter Lawwell? Surely not?

After all, unlike the Celtic manager, chief executive Peter Lawwell is a Scot. What is the attraction of such a foreign flag for a Scot? In Lennon’s case, as an Ulsterman with a Republican family background, I can just about fathom why he loves wearing the Irish Tricolour.

But there is no such mitigation which can be offered in the case of the man with the decisive power in such a matter, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell.

And then there is the question of UEFA and their statutes, which forbid any expression of political opinion. Perhaps somebody may like to draw UEFA’s attention to the Irish Tricolour on the track suit collar of the manager of the Scottish Champions in order that they can ask Neil Lennon why he wears it.

Or, to put it into the sort of jargon which appeals to Celtic, UEFA could seek clarification from Celtic on this vexed subject.

Still on the subject of Celtic in Europe, the pro Celtic media (that’s especially BBC Scotland, Radio Clyde and the Scottish Daily Mail) has been awash with the bleatings of how poor old fair minded Celtic were mugged by vicious, cheating low life Juventus. Just about every non pc clichÃ© – of the sort usually hated by the Celtic love-in brigade – has been trotted out about the Italians. Short of invoking the Cosa Nostra.

Therefore, it was refreshing to read the experienced view of Roger Hannah in the Sun on Sunday. Hannah merely pointed out that a number of seasoned ex pros had commented that what happened at Celtic corner kicks had been happening all over Europe for years.

Hannah also added that he observed similar circumstances the following night during the enthralling Real Madrid-Manchester United contest, while I was taken by the circumstances surrounding the late Oldham equaliser against Everton on Saturday night.

Of course none of the above will make any difference to the whiners inside Parkhead and their associated luvvies in the media. Perhaps we can have some clarification in the media about their continual pro Celtic agenda.

I mean, it’s not as though Chris Sutton, John Hartson and all the other burly big bruisers from Martin O’Neill’s, era ever did anything similar in Celtic’s cause, is it?

CELTIC supporters have already launched a volley of abusive scare stories in the wake of Craig Whtyte revealing his Rangers blueprint.

Those of a Parkhead persuasion are already crancking up their black propaganda machine.

But that is probably because they are running scared at the thought of a stronger and more stable Rangers staring at them from across the city.

For the past three seasons Rangers, as a club, have been in disarray. But despite that, under Walter Smith, they have managed to see off Celtic.

It has been a huge missed opportunity for Celtic, with first Gordon Strachan, then Tony Mowbray, and finally Neil Lennon failing to take advantage of Rangers' weakness.

Retiring chairman, the Baron Reid of Cardowan and chief executive, Peter Lawwell must shoulder their share of the blame too.

Had they either held on to Strachan, or put the right man in to replace him, then Rangers may have been denied successive Champions League campaigns with the Â£30m income which saved the club.

In fact, that was the second spell recently in which Celtic failed to make sure Rangers were down - and then put the boot in.

The first started nearly 10 years ago when Dick Advocaat did the very Dutch thing of running up the white flag as the Ibrox club slid into Â£80M of debt ,thanks to his wild spending, and Martin O'Neill gave the appearance of being untouchable.

However, O'Neill's Celtic ended empty handed in 2003 while Alex McLeish handed Rangers the Treble. And there was the title again two years later, plus the League Cup, for McLeish, as O'Neill, after making Rangers flounder, could not hold their head under the water.

So much for the so-called Blessed!

No wonder Celtic supporters are angry and frustrated at so many lost chances to establish a hegemony.

That anger and frustration has driven them to distraction, and resulted in them insisting Craig Whyte's takeover would not go through, that Celtic would win the league and that Rangers would go bust.

They were... WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

Now, with the title won, and Whyte firmly in control, they are continuing to make wild allegations.

One of them is to claim that the use of the word "appeal" in the Whyte document means Rangers have already been hit with a tax bill and are appealing it.

Can't they read?

What the document lays out is the action Whyte will take 90 days after any appeal. That simply means, whichever way the tax case goes, either side have the right of appeal, and that appeal must be heard and resolved in 90 days.

Got it? There really isn't anything too complicated or twisted about it. Unlike the twisted way Celtic supporters have reacted to it.

In fact, many Ranger fans I have spoken to in the last day, including accountants and lawyers, are happy with what Whyte has revealed.

They know the sorry state the club had slumped into during the final years of Sir David Murray's reign, and, like all sensible supporters, are aware they must swallow some tough medicine before Rangers are hale and hearty again.

But the fact remains, that although Rangers, as a club, have been in the intensive care ward for the past four years, the team has been as fit as a fiddle.

Therefore, it can't be a surprise to anyone that the many enemies of Rangers continue to try to paint Craig Whyte in a bad light.

Remember, these are the same enemies who claimed Whyte would never complete his takeover of the Ibrox club, and were left looking like mugs.

Some folk, though, it seems never learn.

For now, this pack of toothless wolves, these enemies of Rangers, are gathering like a pack of bandits behind Donegal based self-style rebel, Philmacgiollabhain , in a pathetic bid to blacken Whyte’s character and motives.

But they are a danger. To themselves!

Philmacgiollabhain really should be careful what he writes about Whyte, and any of the multi millionaire Rangers’ owner’s extremely wealthy and powerful business associates.

He does not have nearly enough journalistic experience to know how to circumnavigate the delicate laws of defamation.

His latest attack on Whyte is thinly disguised as sarcasm, and could soon attract the attention of Whyte’s high powered London lawyers, who have claimed the scalps of the Daily Mail, Daily Star and the Sun in recent libel actions.

I will leave any holes that can be picked in Philmacgiollabhain’s ill-informed rant regarding Whyte’s business motives to those lawyers.

But one aspect which Philmacgiollabhain raised which I am able to discuss is Craig Whyte’s background as a lifelong Rangers fan.

That family attachment to the Ibrox club is something which sets Whyte apart from his predecessor, Murray, whose only flirtation with football before Graeme Souness talked him into buying Rangers, was a failed bid to take over little Ayr United.

Prior to that, Murray was a rugby man, with an interest in an ice hockey team, and to this day rugby remains his sporting passion. He continues to back the Scotland side with hard cash.

In complete contrast, Whyte, and his dad, have been well known among some former Rangers players for years.

One seventies star has told me he knows Whyte senior well, and has known the new Ibrox overlord since he was still a schoolboy, taken to watch Rangers in action. He has even done business with Whyte.

What some people are finding hard to get used to is Whyte’s quiet and unassuming way of going about his business. There are no bombastic boasts and no hogging of the limelight and the mic from Whyte, unlike Murray.

That is just not Whyte’s style. As I have said before, he is a man who gives every appearance of taking Teddy Roosevelt’s advice to speak softly and carry a big stick.

So far, in the main, all we have heard is his soft voice. Even in dealing with Alastair Johnston the new Rangers owner has spoken softly.

The big stick though, will soon become evident to those who cross him. No matter where they are.

STEWART REGAN is now the most powerful figure in the 138-year history of the Scottish Football Association.

The governing body is now truly Regan’s Scottish Football Association, and firmly in the Englishman Regan’s vice-like grip.

The unanimous vote through of the Regan dismantling of 138-years of history, in the wake of Celtic’s successful challenges, shows that he holds the whip hand and can crack it as he wishes.

And already Celtic supporters are crowing that they have won their battle with the SFA, and all will be well for their club.

Of course, that only goes to show they have not stopped to think things through.

What is actually happening is that a new structure will be put in place to plug the loopholes Paul McBride QC was able to put Neil Lennon through, to avoid the full extent of the ban imposed.

The new set up will still allow for a manager to feel the full wrath of the SFA, but without being able to wriggle free on a technicality.

Or at least, that is the only reason for the old system to be dismantled and a new one put in its place, driven by Regan.

Regan now has more power over Scottish football than anyone who has held the post of either secretary or chief executive, outstripping Ernie Walker and Jim Farry, and even putting those ancient autocrats, Willie Allan and Sir George Graham in the shade.

It now remains to be seen how carefully and wisely he uses this power.

And how tough and fireproof the new SFA "court" is. For, when it is revealed, it should not be long before its powers are put to the test.

Though I could not speculate on who the first high profile manager to stand before it will be.

However, when that happens, we will see just how successful the Regan reformation is.

As I have already remarked, Regan won’t have merely to dance gingerly along a tightrope like Fred….

But backwards, and in high heels, like Ginger.

Firstly the bands on the collar of NL track suit are horizontal, while those on the national flag of ROI are vertical. The colour is orange not yellow. Notice he makes no reference to the orange strips worn by rfc and now proposed by SEVCO.

This guy is coming very close to or may actually have gone over the line to a racist post. So what, if NL wears the colours of ROI, where does it say in UEFA or EC laws that it is forbidden to wear the colours of a member country or sportS association.
His argument is anti Irish, purely because they are Irish.
Guy is barking at the moon. His blogs get more and more bizarre.

ANTI RANGERS BIAS BREACHES BBC CHARTER

BBC Scotland now appears, to many, to be so biased, so bigoted, so overtly anti Rangers, that there is a strong foundation for the case being made that it is in breach of its Charter.

Take, for instance, the way events played out last Thursday as BBC Scotland bosses got themselves in the fankle to end all fankles when trying to plan for a discussion about Rangers and the year since Craig Whyte imploded, sending the club into administration.

Here is how events unfolded.

On Wednesday BBC Scotland made a belated attempt to invite somebody from the Rangers side of affairs onto a programme which they said would examine the story from the social media side.

Stuart Cosgrove, a self confessed football hooligan and a man perceived by many as a Rangers hater, was to host the programme. Also invited was shamed lawyer Paul McConville, a man whose blog drips with hatred towards all things Rangers. He was to be joined by Andy Muirhead, whose Scotzine blog somehow contrives to make McConville seem balanced and fair.

When BBC Scotland approached the Rangers Standard’s Chris Graham and invited him to appear, he asked who else was going to be on the programme and the above line-up was relayed to him. No mention was made of Odious Creep.

Chris politely declined. He was later contacted again by BBC Scotland who told him McConville had been removed from the line up. Chris refused to re-consider. Despite the token change it was clear to him what the mindset of those planning the programme had been from the off. Anti Rangers. Again, no mention was made of Odious Creep.

By Thursday morning BBC Scotland bosses saw where their best laid schemes were heading and decided on another change. Stuart Cosgrove was removed from hosting the programme, but stayed as a guest and Jim Spence was ordered to hot foot it south from Inverness, where he had been covering a game, and fill the chair.

Next came a call to the publisher of the Rangers Historian and author of around twenty books about Rangers, Robert McElroy. He too refused. Again, no mention was made of Odious Creep appearing.

Spence then called McElroy again and offered to do a one-to-one interview with him on the telephone, to be inserted into the programme. At which time Odious Creep’s name surfaced. McElroy, once again, declined.

By the time the BBC Radio Scotland programme was broadcast the line up consisted of Jim Spence, a man who Rangers supporters see as being bitterly anti their club, plus Cosgrove and Creep, who later that night, on television admitted to being sad that he had spent 40 years in and around Rangers and their supporters.

Now, there may be some who believe either Chris Graham or Robert McElroy should have accepted the invitation to put the Rangers perspective on the programme. I disagree. For BBC Scotland bosses, by the initial inclusion of shamed lawyer Paul McConville and Scotzine’s Rangers hater, Andy Muirhead, showed a clear bias right from the off.

My belief if that had Chris Graham accepted the original invitation, McConville and Muirhead would have appeared and together with the highly experienced broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove, acting as ringmaster, they would have ambushed the Lone Ranger.

However, the way events played out and the major and minor players who took part, provides illumination into the mindset of BBC Scotland and, in my view, calls into question whether or not BBC Scotland fulfils the BBC Charter.

Which is why it is time for people to act to do something to have these and other actions, along with such people as Odious Creep and Stuart Cosgrove, put under the microscope.

It is high time the rabid republican zealots and Rangers haters who run BBC Scotland were made to answer for their actions.

There is no other way to call them to account, as the BBC is not a commercial organisation, accountable to shareholders or at the mercy of market forces.

On a related subject, the BBC National Union of Journalists’ strike yesterday. This has been given a great deal of prominence on the Twitter site of well known and officially acknowledged bigot, Philmacgiollabhain.

Philmacgillabhain of course is eligible to take expense money from the NUJ, meaning, in his official role with the NUJ in the Republic of Ireland, he is able to pocket his share of NUJ members’ Â£300-a-year membership fee. Of course there may very well be many National Union of Journalists’ members here in Scotland who are fighting for their jobs, who are quite happy for that to happen.

Though I suspect there are many rank and file NUJ members – even at BBC Scotland where there was strike action yesterday – who are uncomfortable with this situation.

I suggest they take the matter up with the man the man whose life is completely funded by their NUJ membership fees, the National Union of Journalists’ full time Scottish organiser, Paul Holleran.

Indeed, since the Press Complaints Commission endorsed the Scottish Sun’s view that Philmacgiollabhain, a leading figure in the National Union of Journalists’ hierarchy is tarred with the brush of sectarianism, we haven’t heard a whimper or a growl on the subject from Paul Holleran.

ODIOUS CREEP, SAVILE AND BBC SCOTLAND
BBC Scotland bosses risk being dragged into the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal by their increasing employment of a man who has publicly sympathised with a convicted *****phile.

And that man is none other than Odious Creep.

I wonder if the man who sits on the powerful BBC Trust with special responsibilities for BBC Scotland and how affairs there are conducted, Bill Matthews, is aware that Odious Creep is a *****phile sympathiser?

However, if he is not yet, then I am pretty sure he soon will be and that letters, addressed to him, will be arriving at the BBC Trust, 180 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5QZ. Emails too, marked for his attention, will be filling the inbox at [email protected]

If there are enough people calling for Bill Matthews to look into the suitability of Odious Creep to appear on the BBC, he must either push for a probe into the link between Creep and a convicted *****phile, or risk further political pressure.

It was in the summer of 2011 that Odious Creep went public with his sympathy for Hearts player Craig Thomson who had just been convicted of two sexual offences involving two under-age girls.

Thomson was convicted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court of two separate charges of lewd, libidinous and indecent behaviour towards two different under-age girls, one a 14-year-old and the other who was only 12-years-old at the time she was subjected to the sexual ordeal. Thomson, who then played for Hearts, was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and also fined Â£4,000.

Yet, amazingly, in the wake of all of this being played out in public, Odious Creep chose to commit to public record, on his then official of Times of London Twitter account, his then employers, his sympathy for convicted *****phile Thomson. Remember, one of the girls who suffered at the hands of the man Odious Creep sympathised with, was a mere 12-years-old. Little more than a child.

That Odious Creep sympathy vote for the convicted sex offender led to an outbreak of outrage on the powerful Mumsnet internet forum. I wonder if they mums of Britain are aware that Odious Creep is now employed by the BBC in a high profile role?

In the ensuing weeks and months which followed, the storm appeared to blow itself out and things went quiet on that front and it was not long afterwards that Odious Creep, who had kept a low profile in the wake of his declaration of sympathy for a convicted sex offender, left the Times of London and attempted to re-invent himself as a freelance broadcaster and columnist, even penning religious comment pieces.

In his ambitions, BBC Scotland helped Odious Creep a great deal. First, by giving him a seasonal Sunday morning golf programme to host on BBC Radio Scotland and then taking him on board its flagship Saturday teatime football programme.

However, BBC Scotland bosses have blundered. For either they were not aware of Odious Creep’s public declaration of sympathy for a convicted *****phile, or they simply chose to ignore that stain on his character. Or perhaps they thought it was all water under the bridge and had been forgotten.

If it was either the second or third of those options then BBC Scotland bosses have shown uncommon arrogance in assuming their wee domain would remain free from the scandal which has rocked the BBC across the United Kingdom in the wake of the shocking revelations of sexual abuse, much of it involving under-age girls, which Jimmy Savile was at the centre of.

Now, there is no suggestion of any sexual wrong doing by anyone at BBC Scotland. However, surely in the current climate, those BBC Scotland bosses would not want to be seen to employ any high profile presenter who has openly sympathised with a convicted *****phile?

The political pressure which that would place on those BBC Scotland chiefs, the spotlight which would be turned on them if the BBC Trust and Bill Matthews asked for an explanation, would put them in a bad situation. Between a rock and a hard place, if you like.

Of course, that is all dependent on just how many letters and emails arrive for Bill Mathews at the BBC Trust pointing out Odious Creep’s sympathy for a convicted *****phile and expressing their outrage at his continued employment, at the taxpayer’s expense, by the British Broadcasting Corporation at a time when the BBC is cleaning house in the wake of the Jimmy Savile *****phile revelations.

Has he not written this blog about 7 times before!? You can almost feel the pained hatred jumping off the screen.

Personally, i wouldn't have aired my opinions on the subject in public, as Spiers did, but i can see the point he was trying to make. I don't necessarily agree with him but i don't think we can paint him as a '*****phile sympathiser'.
